OSR Review & Commentary On Wretched Époque Quickstart Rpg By Miguel Ribeiro, Sílvia Clemente, & Joe Coombs

"Wretched Époque takes place in the period known as the Belle Époque. This is the time and the fictional place where Umberto Eco's Simone Simonini crosses paths with Jacques Tardi's Adèle Blanc-Sec, Edgar Allan Poe's Chevalier Auguste Dupin and Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin, amidst anarchist bombings, the echoes of the Dreyfus affair, the catastrophic side effects of secret societies conspiring in the shadows and the mysterious results of experiences conducted by mad geniuses. Not yet pulp, not quite historical, it is neither the right time nor the right mood for Steampunk or Dieselpunk. Welcome to the wretched times of Nouveaupunk!"

Wretched Époque Quickstart clocks in at sixty one pages of French Nouveaupunk goodnes by Miguel RibeiroSílvia Clemente, &  Joe CoombsWretched Époque Quickstart  rules are perfect 'beer & pretezel' OSR rules system introduction. While not perfect minus the sanity & magick rules it has the meet of the system allowing the DM & players to get right into the French Victoriana underbelly.
Within the
Wretched Époque Quickstart Rpg rules we get a wide spread of the proper Wretched Époque rpg. More then enough to get player's PC hopped up into the world of the French underworld & criminal underbelly. Reading through the rules this game aims for both physical action & intrigue in turns. It works very well in what it does & the era it aims to portray.
The
Wretched Époque Quickstart Rpg  works well as quick start rpg systems rules because there's little fat or  system to get in the way. In other words its all lean  mean little to get the players into playing. Within about five to ten minutes with a PC you could be up & playing!
