Titan Macrobes They Want The Souls Of Our Children!

What started out as an experiment for the benefit of human kind became a nightmare of epic dimensions. An experiment in the cloning of human tissues became the target of the terrorist cell of Red Sunday. The cell killed all of the scientists on the remote outpost of  Kevus III. They introduced a nano cancer agent into the experiment.
The clone factories produced a one celled cancer of staggering dimensions. The macro organism reacted with the conditions of the base killing & absorbing everyone around it. For three years the thing through trial & error has adapted to space going conditions.
Three food processing bases have been targeted & the macrobes themselves have at least 4 different planet sized space going cancer clusters.
Each macrobe unit has a number of super science powers to pull from in its arsenal.
  1. Survive The Riggers Of Space & Time - The unit is able to overcome most adverse conditions while employing this power. The Macrobe glows a faint yellow phosphorescence when employing this power. Can't be used while attacking. 
  2.  Absorb The Soul - The macrobe uses its mental gestalt to grab the life essence of a dead or near dying person. Those essences are transferred into the greater consciousness of the creature. Those minds which have been contacted telepathically describe the experience akin to having their minds stretched across  communications wire. Thin & thinner their drawn until their is little left of the original person. May only be used on the well preserved or fresh humanoid corpse. 
  3. Mind Rape - An all out telepathic assault on the humanoid mind. The person must make a saving throw versus death or they're mind shuts down as stimuli assaults every single sense.May only be used 5 times per day. Does no physical damage but the target is stunned for 1d10 rounds 
  4. Skin of The Humanoid - The unit assumes the shape,thought patterns  & design of those it has recently killed in order to lure more prey to it. It may use thoughts, desires, & behaviors to fool even an experienced telepath! A
  5. Ionic Shock - The unit produces a wave of electrical energy that does 1d8 points of damage to the target unless a save vs is rolled. Take only half damage.

The military badge of the task force for dealing with the threat of these creatures! 

A special task force unit has been set up to deal with the hazard of the macrobes. This unit set up under the guise of a mercenary unit is supplied & stocked to deal with this threat. Operating out of an old war cruiser & using  updated weaponry. These agents of human space are dealing with the problem logically, fatally, but are out manned, out gunned, &  in over their heads. There are rumors of them turning to adventurers, cut throats, pirates, & thieves to help them!
