OSR Commentary - This is Free Trader Beowulf.. calling anyone.. Happy Mayday!

Happy Mayday folks, let me try to put this into words. The Traveller rpg is one of the cornerstones of my life going back to the Seventies. And it becomes more important as time goes on because of the power of the 2d6 rpg engine.

Marc Miller's Traveller and other Games Designer Workshop games have never stopped appearing at our table. The importance of Traveller even now with it's OSR  incarnation of  Cepheus Engine rpg continues to echo with myself and my players.
But it's Traveller that really has its place in my heart.
True story was the fact that back in the Nineties I bumped into Marc Miller at an Rpg Con. The man & I got talking about how the 2d6 engine  can handle just about anything that 2nd edition Dungeons & Dragon could. And handle game play actually better.
Without missing a beat Mr.Miller  proceeded to prove his point.
Because of the fact that Traveller has so many flavors to it as both a system and as a campaign setting universe. Where did I pick up my appreciation for all things Traveller?! My uncle introduced the neighorhood kids to Traveller back in the early 80's. And as an alternative or competitor to Dungeons & Dragons. We came to appreciate the 'mini character generation' game within the Traveller Rpg.
And then let's speak about the fact that the Spinward Marches saw so many of our vessels as we braved the darkness between the stars. And so many times we didn't make it back to port. And still we created new PC's. We played so many campaigns fold & unfold with various friends over the years. I miss the fact that we could pick up so many of the Traveller titles from the local hobby shops. These are gone.  But all is not forgotten.

Fortunately Far Future Enterprises still has all of the old classic Traveller rpg titles on tap. We've got fantastic creators like Michael Brown , Independence Games, Zozer Games,   Stellagemma Publishing,  & Moon Toad Publishing,
The fact is that it was actually Cepheus Engine that got me too really look deeper into the worlds of 2d6 and hook up with my old friend the Traveller rpg.
And also to renew my love of the Traveller rpg. So happy Mayday
