Deep dive into Dragon issue #116 & Manual of the Planes by Jeff Grubbs

Where do we begin? At the beginning & for me that's going to start with Dragon issue #116 & its deep dive into marine adventures for OSR games. And with last night's recent purchase this one is a natural.
Not only did this issue have a 25 MM fold out sailing ship but it also had an article on the mail called  'Hello, Your Majesty?'  by Craig Barrett. This article offered some deeper adventure hooks for campaigns then it might first appear. But the real gems were 'High Seas Margaret' by M. Foy Ships, from life boats to the glorious tall sails. This article places the PC's right into the captain's chair!
'Children of the Deep' by  Todd Mossburg Aquatic elves in the AD&D® game which brings brand new PC options into game.
The Dragon's Bestiary Marine life as the readers imagine it brings the dreaded sea titan into Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Make no mistake these things can be very nasty indeed.
Now couple all of this with the fact of my recent purchases last night & you've got the makings of a very nasty little campaign aspect.
The second little aspect of this campaign idea is the inclusion is Jeff Grubbs's Manual of the Planes for elemental plane of Water information!

Wham we've got everything we need to get this beauty of a campaign swimming &  hustling along! Why because this lovely has all of the information I need to get all of the random encounters tables that I need! There's plenty of ammunition to get get the craft of the characters dealing with some of the royal courts of the plane of water.  And everything leads right back into the para elemental information found in the Monster Manual II by Gary Gygax.

Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Monster Manual II (#2016): Gygax ...
