"Medusa. A jungle world ripe for exploitation. Its gigantic prism trees have colourful irridescent pigments within the woodgrain. This is a world of loggers, pushed by Tharsis Corporation to move farther out, to bigger and more valuable trees. But the jungle is dangerous, spores are toxic to humans, and the face masks sometimes don't do their job. Everyone knows someone who went crazy in the field, in his truck, on R&R. "
"And why are the Marines on Medusa? What are they up to in that secretive jungle camp they've established near the south pole? "
"Medusa is a deadly forest moon, shrouded in secrets and lies. "
Medusa By Aaron Kavli From Zozer Games For The Hostile Rpg is one of those world books that not only is a world book but a whole cloth adventure colony setting for Zozer Games Hostile rpg. And Medusa is not a friendly alien world by any means. And in point of fact has the same vieniness as the Tau Seti setting baked in. And this isn't a bad thing. Medusa is a very valuable world in every sense of the word from a corporate stand point. It has everything one would want valuable resources, and much more. Not too bad if the whole world wasn't trying to kill your PC. But in Hostile it's just another job. Medusa however has other plans shall we say this is a world of secrets & lies. They're not kidding.
Medusa has a valuable commodity that adores the corporate board rooms of countless mega corporations. This commodity is paid for in human lives but that livelihood is threatened by the corporate bred clones. And the deadly spores of Medusa conceil thier own secrets. Medusa is well done with the usual Zozer games lay out and easy to read fonts. On the whole Medusa has far more going below the surface but like Tau Ceti. The planet is a powder keg primed for rebellion not to mention the marine presence on this alien world. And this is one of the things that makes Medusa very expansive.
Medusa has all of the elements that one expects in a Hostile rpg adventure setting but Medusa is different in my reading through it. And I think that Aaron Kavli's writing has a slightly different voice with Medusa. And this world book wouldn't be out of place on the frontiers of the Clement Sector either. And this is one of the strengths of Medusa. The fact that Medusa is a solid adventure setting book with pontential for the DM to use it in other Cepheus or even old school Traveller.
