So let's pick it right up from where we left off with Godstar last time on the blog. And there's quite a bit going on here within Zozer Games Godstar setting. Godstar isn't Dune & there are several things that easily distinuish it from Dune or it's deriviatives. The first being the Godstar itself and it's left open ended as to what it is. Now last time we spoke about obstacles and culture shocks that bounty dogs are going to face in & out of the Million Suns empire. And last year we had plans to get together for a a Cepheus Engine bountyhunter game using both Godstar and Moon Toad Publishing's Bounty Hunter Handbook.
Godstar's Million Stars empire is unique in both it's position and held beliefs of it's balance of power. This is not an interstellar empire to screw with they know conquest and military power. And they are on footing technologically with the Clement sector. And what if the Clement Sector was caught up in Million Stars Empire being cut off from the Earth sector. How?! From last blog entry; "Imagine if you will that the same wormhole that cut off the Clement sector from Earth also cut off the planet of Aurelia. The Million Sun empire was an up and coming interstellar empire and Earth was beginning to feel the heat of the economic super power and the Clement sector was continuing it's expansion. Then it all came to a shuttering halt with the collapse of the wormhole gateways?! "
Why the Clement Sector?! There are some serious reasons to include the Clement sector into this mix and that's because of the expanding frontier aspect of the Clement sector itself. The setting has several Wild Western Space Opera elements already built and baked in. The technological levels are very similar and yet far enough apart that the culture shock is going to be severe for PC's. And the fact that mercenaries and space pirates crossing into either sector are going to be in quite a shock. Do you want factions?! Because we've got space pirate factions with Independence Games 21 Pirate Groups.
In Godstar there are mentions of at least two pirate factions and mercenaries with the opening of a stable wormhole between the Clement sector and the Million Stars empire would be dropping gasoline into a fuel dump. The sky is the limit for trade, manufacturing, exploration and more. Because of the distances involved instellar piracy between sectors would be a reality and mercenary trade would be another possibility.
And the difference between mercenaries or sand dog militaries and pirates is a murky one at best and an open invitation at worst. It's the blackness bewetween these two sectors that has me wondering wondering about another faction or sector that could be waiting in the Black. And reading through the Clement sector rule book has some interesting hints in it. And this sets us up for the next time!
