New Science Fiction Helix Season 1: 2014 trailer and Your Post Apocalyptic Lovecraftian Old School Campaign.

 What's Helix  About?

According to Wiki :The series follows a team of scientist from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a research facility in the Arctic to investigate a potential outbreak of disease. While there, they find themselves stuck in a life-or-death situation that could decide the fate of the future of mankind. This looks like it might be a combination of the Andromeda Strain and The Thing From Another World . Either way its got my interest. Let's see where this might go.
Hell of an opening for a post apocalyptic game though.

Using A 'Helix' Model For Your Favorite Post Apocalyptic Game

There's a long history of hot stuff happening up in the ice caps from the first incarnation of the Thing From Another World all the way back to the Ice Sphinx.  For gaming purposes though the big one is of course At The Mountains of Madness by HP Lovecraft.

If I was going to run this though I'd use a combination of 'Ice Station Zebra' and At The Mountains of Madness with a healthy dose of Thing.

Perhaps the players wake up in a facility ala Metamorphosis Alpha First Edition and have to unravel the clues. The corporate experimental angle is a solid one and easy to incorporate. From the Goblinoid Games Family this would be an easy game to get off the ground. Moving forward with such a campaign might take a few months.
Perhaps such a facility locked away in the Antarctic could even be close to the Mountains of Madness and perhaps the mutations are not caused by radiation but something far more sinister. The PC's are the latest batch of sanity shattering clones to experience life  and perhaps the lure of the Great Old Ones.
Of course they might be dodging that weird mysterious alien that might be trying to take the PC's over. Everything you really need to run such a campaign is right in Realms of Crawling Chaos and tap it off with Mutant Future!
