Impressions Of Sword & Caravan By The RPG Pundit From Mad Scribe Games As OSR Campaign

"Sword & Caravan is an OSR setting book for playing a historically accurate fantasy campaign set in the East along the region known as "the Silk Road" at the turn of the 12th/13th Centuries. This historic campaign's timeline is set amid the turbulent era between the Third Crusade and the Mongol Invasions. This marked Europe's earliest period of post-classical interaction with the East."

"As Players, you may decide to take on the roles of crusaders, merchants, or explorers traveling to ancient and mysterious lands. Alternatively, you may choose from any number of unique character concepts native to those lands."

With a detailed gazetteer of every region along the Silk Road from the Crusader States and the Muslim world to China, Sword & Caravan gives you everything you need to explore the history and varied cultures of a region filled with war, intrigue, commerce, and conquests."

The hardback of Sword & Caravan By The RPG Pundit
From Mad Scribe Games just arrived today from Drivethrurpg. With my birthday coming up in a couple of days my wife grabbed a copy off of Drivethrurpg & it just arrived today. What a beautiful book & perfect for any historical or OSR gamer out there.  Sword & Caravan takes place on the ancient Silk Road. And Sword & Caravan is completely OSR but could act as sourcebook for either Dark Albion the OSR setting book  or the  Lion & Dragon the Rpg

Everything within Sword & Caravan is geared around the 'Silk Road' from the Silk Road of China & the middle East as campaign setting, to adventure hooks set around the whole affair. Sword & Caravan isn't pulling punches with lots & lots of detail about the Silk Road itself from most of the major & minor towns, cities, and setting all detailed. Sword & Caravan follows the major conceit of Lion & Dragon & Dark Albion notably that the major race detailed for PC's is human. The whole of Sword & Caravan is humancentic & so it should be. What is the 'Silk Road' that we're talking about here?! Well, according to the Silk Road wiki entry; "The Silk Road (Chinese: 絲綢之路)[1] was a network of Eurasian trade routes active from the second century BCE until the mid-15th century.[2] Spanning over 6,400 kilometers (4,000 miles), it played a central role in facilitating economic, cultural, political, and religious interactions between the East and West.[3][4][5] First coined in the late 19th century, the name "Silk Road" has fallen into disuse among some modern historians in favor of Silk Routes, which more accurately describes the intricate web of land and sea routes connecting East and Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, the Middle East, East Africa and Europe.[2]"

We get most of the major cities, towns, oasises, deserts, ruins, & tons of details in one hundred ninety five pages with an index built in. And plenty of adventure hooks thrown in. Do youself a favor & get the hardback its well worth the money. This makes up for the terrible version of Drivethrurpg's Invisible College. We get Greece, China, and many places inbetween in Sword & Caravan. Plus we get most of the major PC classes from these and other places. Sword & Caravan creates its atmosphere by being straight up & really well presented.  Sword & Caravan By The RPG Pundit presents its world, campaign setting, etc. in a straight forward no nonsense manner. There's no side hustles here, the history in Sword & Caravan is right on the money, the writing crisp and too the point. The history is accurate & on point.
Sword & Caravan is easily one of the better OSR sourcebook on the market. The book is beautifully done, the layout clear, the writing is hard core on the history coming alive under the author's pen.
Sword & Caravan is a labor of love and it's on point offering its readers a glimpse into a word of it's witnessing.
Sword & Caravan offer a nicce alternative campaign setting to the usual OSR campaign books on the market.

First Impressions Of The Wretched New Flesh - Second Edition Rpg By The Red Room

"Wretched New Flesh - Second Edition RELEASED! Now available at the Red Room store,

and . Wretched New Flesh transports players to a dystopian future inspired by the dark visions of William S. Burroughs, David Cronenberg, William Gibson, JG Ballard and Clive Barker. "

"This surreal future-noir roleplaying game setting combines elements of cyberpunk, biopunk, and psi punk to create a nightmarish world where libertarianism and unchecked corporate power lead to decadence, violence, and oppression. 648 pages stock full of new setting information and expanded rules (hacking, forensics, investigation, city building, etc)."

Wretched New Flesh - Second Edition Rpg was sent to me by it's authors the other day. And WNF 2nd is a six hundred & forty eight page beast of an Rpg. Wretched New Flesh takes place in the not so distant future or is it?! This is a surreal Science Fictional and Fantasy universe with a Neo Noir asthetic. And Earth as we have known it has changed in dramatic ways. According to Wretched New Flesh 2nd edition; "In this alternate reality, instead of reintegrating the International Zone territory (formerly administered by France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, and the United States) back into Tangiers, the Moroccan state made a deal with an international conglomerate of several corporations interested in investing in northern Africa." Now imagine that the future of Earth is controlled by some of the most evil and dangerous corporations to manufacture the world in which we live. The world of the mega city of  Avalidad has changed & expanded.
Basically, the newer incarnation of the  Wretched Rpg rules have been back incorporated into the
Wretched New Flesh - Second Edition Rpg, and most of the optional Wretched New Flesh optional rules have been reigned into the newest incarnation. And best of all it's 99.0% cross compatible with all of the other Wretchedverse rpg titles.

But is it worth grabbing The Wretched New Flesh - Second Edition Rpg?! In a word oh yes! The Red Room has pulled out all of the stops and the mega city of  Avalidadis even more dangerous. You've got new factions, back compitability, new takes on monsters and NPC's, old NPC's upgraded, dangerous cracks in New Flesh's reality as the Beyond takes hold. New threats, and old threats threading thier way through the adventures within the mega city of  Avalidad. The powers & princedoms of the Beyond have been upgraded as well. There's lots and lots of changes to the Wretched New Flesh setting that we know and love.
Is Wretched New Flesh Second edition actually usable?! In a word yes! T
he mega city of  Avalidad can host anything from OSR super heroes to surreal horror plus more!

First Impressions of Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector By John Watts, Michael Johnson, and Tony Hicks for The Clement Sector Rpg From Independence Games

 So via our email came 'Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector' From Independence Games. Sweet mother of God this is a huge 200 page pdf of a book.  'Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector' is a key book & tool kit for the Clement Sector rpg as the introduction states;
"As the introductory quote states, starports are an integral part of the make-up of Clement Sector. Starports are the places where imports arrive, exports leave, people come and go, and communications arrive and are sent. Almost all the settled worlds in Clement Sector have ports and this includes the restrictive governments and worlds which try to have minimal contact with other planets. Starports come in many different types and can be a massive orbital structure or a flat piece of land cleared of obstacles. In this section, we will cover the different types of starports as a form of introduction."

Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector is a key book clocking in at over 200 pages of 2d6 Clement Sector rpg goodness. There's extensive rules here for generating, creating, and maintaining every type of star port, station, and trade zone within the blackness of the Clement sector. And by God if this book doesn't remind me of the early 19th century fur trading forts & outposts of North America. Extensive nodes of civilization scattered against the blackness of the wilds of the frontiers of the Clement Sector. Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector by John Watts, Michael Johnson, and Tony Hicks writing is dialed in with everything dialed into the generation of these oasises amid the blackness of the Clement sector. The artwork by Ian Stead is on point as usual and the rest of the book is certainly up to Independence Games standards.
The rules here are swift, well done, and have that new Cepheus Engine rpg smell about them plugging into the Space Western motif very well. Every aspect of starport & station design is covered extensively in vivid detail.
Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector reads like both a general supplement for the Clement Sector rpg but also a very straight forward set of rules for designing your own star ports for your 2d6 campaigns! The real shine of Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector is within the design, selection, and refinement of tradition statport design. Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector feels like a solid set of rules for bring home the idea of star ports being home to adventure at every turn. Or the fact that the PC's starport may indeed be their extensive home away from home ports.
Every aspect of the starport as adventure point is explored within the pages of Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector. And many of these rules would also work very well with the Earth sector rpg system. The rules make generating your own star ports fun, random, and very acessible for the average DM to get running threir own star port based adventures!
This makes Port of Entry Starports In The Clement Sector a must have for those who want to run any adventure centered around their own campaign's starports!
