Angels Above & Demons Below - Hostile/Kosmos 68 Game Session Report Two

This blog post is going to pick right up from this session on May 14th here on the blog.  Having gotten the Soviet's robot memory banks picked clean the PC's find out that the PC's may have been exposed to a necrovirus!

The PC's had to deal with a street contact between them and the underworld corporates that represented the syndicates on Abysss. So the Soviets in last night's games left behind a surprise in the form of a necrovirus aboard the wreckage that the PC's explored which meant dumping a ton of gear for decom & disposial. And the PC's have been dealing with a rather shady character named  Baosheng, a veteran Snakehead operating in the Off-World colony of Abyss. Dealing with the PC's hackers the design of the necrovirus is actually a  Chinese corporate creation left behind to discredit the Soviets on the colony world. It also hints at a possible all out war! During last week's game the players felt as if they were going up against  the Soviet SSB. And they actually were! Thier street samurai hired bodyguards reported to them that they were being cased out! At stake on Abyss is the fact that the Russians months ago have entered the fray on the side of the Chinese corporations as mercenaries.
High above Abyss sits the Orca a corporate Rokke Class Research Vessel that belongs to the head of the Science division of the Matsuyama corporation. No one is sure why he's there and his vessel is several technological levels above other Hostile starships. The vessel & her crew are all hand made and hand picked.
Suddenly the PC's and the Soviets were surround by the corporate forces of
the Matsuyama corporation! Both camps were escorted aboard a shuttle and whisked up into the bowels of the the Orca a corporate Rokke Class Research Vessel. Cloths were stripped and burnt, weapons were decomtaminated, and the PC's were checked over. 15 hours later the PC's were given the all clear!!

The Chinese corporate forces had set up both the Soviets & the PC's. The PC's noticed that the shuttle they had ridden in was being hosed down as well. They were taken too the head of the the Science division of the Matsuyama corporation. And the Soviet psychics were allowed into the conference. Both sides were given information packs in order to avoid a interstellar corporate incident. They were told that the Colony worlds were burning and  the Matsuyama corporation wants to buy thier contracts in order to head off a mini interstellar war on Abyss. There's far more going on here then meets the eye.

Angels Above & Demons Below - Hostile/Kosmos 68 Game Session Report

Tonight our group got together for a round of our Hostile/Kosmos 68 game campaign where we found our party on Abyss doing a bit of black OP's against the Soviets.

At stake on Abyss is the fact that the Russians months ago have entered the fray on the side of the Chinese corporations as mercenaries. No one is sure why the Russians are there except to shore up support for the Chinese criminal sydicates and act as ore pirates.
So our little party's mission is to figure out how deep the Soviet influence runs. We're serving aboard two submarines while running interference on largest island city. Our runners are plugged into the local grid while we've hired local street samurai to act as bodyguards.
The players in tonight's game felt as if they were facing down the Soviet SSB & think that there might be far more going on below the waters of Abyss. During tonight's game the party almost bought it when some of the local wildlife decided to give them a bit of a scare and turn.

What the player's PC's found tonight didn't help thier love of the Soviets in our Abyss campaign. The PC's were able to find a bouy that the Soviets had left behind in Chinese controlled terrority. They dived on the spot with thier submarines and found a Soviet wreck on the bottom. What they came across is a wreckage of submarine sitting on a deep underwater reef. And in tonight's game they recovered the remains of a Soviet robotic unit. The party's technician was able to do a brain & memory bank recovery. And now the party is on it's way back to port to bring the memory bank into a cybernetic expert in the capital city. Meanwhile  corporate eyes are watching from above!

Ghosts From The Abyss - Hostile Rpg Session Report

Abyss is one of those worlds that cries out for far more attention from our group of players. So tonight I got the guys involved in a bit of pirate action. A minor mining concern had the Blackguard doing a bit of guard duty out on the deep mining activity they were performing.

The Blackguard were not expecting much action. What they got was piracy of the highest order as a rival pirate gang's sub pulled up to a spot about ten miles away. The group's hacker if you'll recall is on the mend after taking a shot gun blast to the chest in body armor. She's had cybernetic replacement surgery last game.
The submarine war on Abyss has been heating up. And now the minor clans are getting beaten down by the larger corporations. Big fish eating little fish as it was.
That changed tonight as the group came face to face with a number of divers on underwater sleds armed with spear guns and mini subs.
The party wasn't expecting to meet this kinda of force and when underwater drones were deployed things got even hairier. The party took some blows but they were able to eltricify the hulls of one of the rigs to shock their invaders.
Underwater drones came straight outta DC-1 DarkTek from the Dark Conspiracy rpg. The book has been with me since the 90's. The serious retro technological vibe of Dark Tek easily fits Hostile in spades.
Was the party expecting the drones no. Were they preparred Hell no!

The wildlife of Abyss is another factor as the party dispurted some really nasty alien dinosaurs that ruined both the party's day & the pirates. We ended here tonight where the pirates & the party are having to contend with the local wild life

Return To Abyss - Anchors Away & A Shot Gun To The Torso! - Session Report Two

For the last twenty four hours I've been quitly trying to wrap my mind around the particulars of Zozer Games Abyss for the Hostile rpg. The Blackguard has been deeply involved in sabatoge on Abyss in several areas around claims to spark a gang war between two minor clans.

Own our little band of Hostile marry makers has been employed by the head of a crime syndicate to sew discord among these two clans to come in claim jump.
That being said we're working both sides of the aisles. After our party almost got taken out by a drone bomb in one of Abyss's major city hubs.
The drone killed a hundred people but because of a missed roll it was the wrong skyscraper. Next time the party will be toast & not even a missed roll will save em.
To really bring home the Cyberpunk like atmosphere of the cities of Abyss I used Fishwife games

Cyber City Block 001 for the encounter. For the gang itself we dipped into Michael Brown's New World: 2D6 Adventure in a Cyberpunk America for the outside talent. Think of the gunslingers who are brought in to takeout the marshal in the Eighties film Outland. Shotguns & auto fire in their neighborhood brought out the corporate cops. It was too late!

The PC's survived the encounter but one of them Zoey Crugger their jacker ended up in the hospital & had to receive cybernetic add ons. So she's going to be out for the next two sessions!
And the rest of the party swore revenge! Excellent!
They calculated that the 'Outside Talent' Gang were using a sub anchored off shore as a base. The Blackguard called in two favors with their own corporate masters & had them bring in a sub of their own! We ended here & we're picking it up next week.

Currents of Death - A Hostile rpg Abyss One Shot Game Session Report

So it's about  11:50 PM  I'm just getting back from a Hostile rpg one shot set on Abyss. And man that was an interesting game. The player's Blackguard PC's made it onto Abyss through a transport being brough in by the Takashi clan as 'mining consultants'. What's really going on is that the player's PC's have been brought in as specialized mercenary submariners & divers. And the party got involved with the backend of the Takshi clan's Jago's underworld network. And used these contacts to build up a picture of the submarine war that's going on in the waters of Abyss. The Srigala Hitam have spies among the aqutic proles & we actually have a prole among our party now! This is where things get interesting. The player's PC's are actually on Abyss working a back contract for the CCCP's bravata. Who through 'Mr. Ling' their contact in Srigala Hitam are actually looking for evidence of the xenomorphic invasive Zhuki species.

What they found instead was an underwater war between two of the mining concerns. The party was in a Advanced Motors Seafisher Stern trawler that was actually outfitted with ton of surplus  military sensors belonging too the Srigala Hitam. The party were acting as a part of the ship's crew & had to work the boat. And this didn't go over well. But they found themselves in the middle of a submarine attacking a mining platform. And their ship the 'Sea Star' found itself as a target. The 'Sea Star' managed put some distance between itself & the submarine.

As the Blackguard made their way into the richer waters they found an injured aquatic prole belonging to their host clan. Paul Le'e is a contracted worker on the destroyed station & was considered 'expendable'. Successful first aid, quick rolls, and good results allowed one of our players to play something a bit different.
We were out on the water for three weeks on our 'fishing' tour & managed to dive on a vast floating Abyssian life  mat as the players called it. And their were several floating water craft drifting with the mat. They found several dead White Fanged Orochi in the area around the mat?! Note that the White Fanged Orochi is one of the top predators on Abyss. When they investigated the mat itself there were several somethings hiding within the mat itself. What they ran across was actually something that resembled a combination of an Orca & an H.G. Giger tenacled  nightmare! The player's PC's had come across a Xenosquid Queen - 120 Kg Str 18 (+4) Dex 17(+3) End 9 (0) Int 1 (-2) Inst 12 (+2) No. Appearing: varies Speed: x2 (12m/rd) Armor: 9 Weapons: teeth (2D6+2); tentacle grab (Average [0] Strength roll to avoid being caught, -1 for every additional tentacle being used) Attack: 6+ Flee: 3-
'She' was surrounded by several Xenomorph warrior Cobras 120 Kg Str 16 (+3) Dex 14(+2) End 9 (+1) Int 1 (-2) Inst 12 (+2) No. Appearing: varies Speed: x2 (12m/rd) Armor: 9 Weapons: teeth (2D6+2); Stinger+1 (2D6 or V/Difficult End roll to avoid Paralysis) Attack: 6+ Flee: 3-
This pretty much confirmed the party's worst fear that the xenomorphs & not the invasive Zhuki species had reached Abyss.

Oh did I mention that this is where several of the Xenomorph Cobra warriors were snaking their way onto the 'Sea Star'?! This is where I decided to end for the evening until Saturday coming up!
