Empire of the Petal Throne rpg & Metamorphosis Alpha rpg - Slow Boat Generational Ships

When the Human Empires collapsed unto the micro planes and was cut off from the rest of  TEKUMEL along with the rest of its universe. There were literally thousands of star ships in hyperspace along with  worlds cut off from the Human Empires.

This basically means that both Gamma World first edition or Metamorphis Alpha 1st edition  rpg might be places where the planar gateways were cut off all together. There's going to be a lot of finger pointing & that being said there's any number of worlds were the EMP's oganization & infrastructure have failed. This leaves the locals to deal with the incredible logistical nightmare. So what happens to the spaceways during the shut down during the dawn of the disappearanc of the Human Empire?! World after world is cut off & the local governers are going to handle the local food ritions, the shutting down of local hyperspace gates, etc.
And once again this puts me in mind of Warriors of the Red Planet & Brett Slocum's 'Warriors of the Lost Planet' rpg supplement a pay what you want title.

Personally I've wondered about the grand Human Star Empire generation ships. The slow boats between colonies & planets  of the Human Empire. Fortunely Kevin Crawford back in 2015 did a set of Beta rules for Swords of the Petal Throne available here. These rules are cross compatible with Revised Stars Without Numbers rpg. Which means that they should in theory be usable with original Metamophis Alpha Rpg rules. And its this very fact that makes things interesting. Why?! Because of the fact that the Goodman Games Metamorphis Alpha material can be pulled from.
This means that MA resources such as the MA first edition rules & tables could in theory be used for generating some of those Petal Throne generational space craft. Space craft that have been lost to the microplanes of hyperspace.

Several of the adventures of the Goodman Games from James Ward's Metamorphosis Alpha: Warden Adventures could be used as stand in adventure  for a Human Empire generation ship.

Ash & Murder - Warriors of the Red Planet Empire of The Petal Throne OSR Campaign Set Up

So let's talk abit about the  Empire of the Petal Throne rpg  & the fact that my buddy Tim aka Sam Wise Seven rpg reminded me of the fact that way back in 2015 or so Erick Tankar covered a very interesting  OSR curioisity. Kevin Crawford of Stars Without Number rpg fame did up a  Beta version of Swords of the Petal Throne .03. You can read about that here.

So now this project ened up in rpg  development Hell but its got me thinking about the possiblities of filling out Swords of The Petal Throne with another OSR product. In this case Brett Slocum's Warriors of the Lost Planet rpg 'a pay what you want' OSR title that uses the Warriors of the Red Planet rpg system. The Warriors of the Lost Planet takes place on  Tekumel during The Later Times, the period within a few thousand years of The Time of Darkness.

So with a bit of OSR sleight of hand the players could potentially play a few thousand years after the 'The Time of Darkness' & as the tribal system is just starting to emerge on Tekumel. This OSR combination along with Warriors of the Red Planet Rpg gives a decent simulation of  Tekumel during the emergence of the tribal wars.

Review & Commentary On The Free Warriors of the Lost Planet pdf By Brett Slocum For Your Old School Campaigns

Basically I was looking around for new Warriors of the Red Planet resources. I stumbled into Brett Slocum's Warriors of the Red Planet Tekumel  campaign resource book  Warriors of the Lost Planet. What is Warriors of the Lost Planet? Well its an  OSR Sword and Planet rules Warriors of the Red Planet to play on Tekumel during The Later Times, the period within a few thousand years of The Time of Darkness..

Warriors of the Lost Planet clocks in at thirty two pages of Tekumel planet sword & sorcery style adventure. Those players of the Empire of the Petal Throne rpg will see all of the familiar races & aliens in attendence. The engine here is definitively Warriors of the Red Planet. So we've got a solid engine here that brings in the "Sword and Planet" genre which is  wonderfully brought to life though simple but effective rules for character races, classes and equipment! All of this is done with a Tekumel flurish!  But is this done effectively?

Well yes but your gonna need Warriors of the Red Planet becaus these are Brett Slocum's Warriors of the Red Planet  Rpg  Tekumel  campaign resource book from the ground up. He's got all of the familiar races, notes on playing them, the technologies of the  Tekumel  & their Warriors equvilant. The whole cloth series of events surrounding the 'The Later Times'. And more which is not too bad considering that this whole book is free. Can you run a campaign in the latter times using this book? In a really short answer, yes. The material here is well done & we'll get into the ins & outs of using Warriors of the Lost Planet.
Warriors of the Lost Planet is a resource & campaign book, this book takes you by the hand adding the races, events, etc. all within the confines of thirty two pages. It does it very well highlighting the material without talking down to its audience. This book takes the complexities of Tekumel  campaign & makes it accessible to the average gamer & dungeon master.
Could a Tekumel  campaign be run using Warriors of the Lost Planet & say original Dungeons & Dragons?

Yes but the dungeon master might need acess to The Tekumel Sourcebook which not only provides the dungeon master the back bone of the setting but lots more history, resources, & Tekumel goodness to run a complete campaign.

Warriors of the Lost Planet does a nice job at the The Later Times, the period within a few thousand years of The Time of Darkness while leaving the dungeon master plenty of room to customize & play with their own Tekumel  setting. Five outt a five in my book for a free book.
