"The world of Savage Swords is a brutal realm of sword & sorcery, intrigue, and survival. This is a harsh, low-fantasy land where blood soaks the sand of ancient arenas and the night hides unspeakable horrors"
The Red Room just put out a preview of their upcoming Sword & Sorcery rpg called Savage Swords. This is an old school Sword & Sorcery rpg & it uses the Red Rpg system that they've put out some months ago. I'm really excited about this rpg showing it's true colours right out the door.
These themes are solid old school style rpg tropes that the Red Room has put together. Because this game plugs into the ideas of Savage Sword of Conan & the writings of guys like Robert E. Howard's works. Savage Swords plugs into the same vibe as Wretched Bastards second edition but this game uses the Red Rpg systems.
This was a tactic that Robert E. Howard often used for his protagonists. These characters were not heroic in the traditional sense. But often made so by their circumstances destroying whatever black menace or evil reared it's head allowing mankind to flourish. I get a similar feel with Savage Swords.
Many of the menaces we see in Savage Swords is solidly on the right of humanity. This doesn't make the PC's the 'good guys' instead these PC's are the fulcrum for adventure.
Is Savage Swords good?! From the little I've seen there's some real legs here for the Savage Swords rpg to build upon.
The massive moves of the Savage Sword rpg is the fact that magick is so very dangerous and corrupting. This puts the weird and corruption right into the thick of the Red Rpg. I for one can't wait for the finished product.
