The Very Best Care - The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg W/Cepheus Journal Issue #12 - Session Report Four

So during tonight's game at the sand dog's base we began treating the mercenaries bio weapon related conditions. Things got very dangerous as it was a variation of leprosy. And this comes to us right out of the Cepheus Engine Issue #12  article 'Socially Unacceptable' The Case for Leprosy' by Jo Jaquinta. And this picks right up from August 7th's game session here on the blog. The crew of the USS John Henry had thier hands full.

We were unloading medical supplies and our physican/agent got to work on the sand dogs. One of our guys got a minor injury and then things went South. Cepheus Engine Issue #12 has a focus on medicine within the Cepheus Engine rpg & 2d6 old school Science Fiction rpg at it's center.  Cepheus Engine Issue #12 has a great little adventure called Medivac by Timothy Collinson which has a party member injured and then taken into a colony hospital facility. Our crew member was 'kidnapped' by House Trano medical staff to weed out the secrets of the leprosy treatments.

We used this this adventure for our party member who was quickly spirited away by House Trano ( the source of the Trano doctors) and things went quickly sideways. Our party ended up breaking into the hospital to save our comrade from getting his brain picked apart by the minor house's doctors. We escaped in an orithoper from the facility but there was no shooting involved per say.

We did get into a fight back at the Sand Chigger's bunker/base with some assassins who were not happy to see our man Elroy back at base. And the players came up to the personal shields tonight for the first time enabling us to get deep with the dueling rules from Zozer Game's Godstar rules.

Since we as Hub Navy agents are now minor house secondary support these assassins are going to be arrested or captured. Or so we thought. Instead these asssasins blew themselves to kingdom come. We have some clues as to the assassins identities. We're meeting with the deeper desert priests of the South of   Aurelia next week.

Sand or Blood - The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg- Session Report Three

We picked up a job from a merchant priest for running medical supplies to a lesser house's sand dogs working the desert after a meal and night of 'business' at the merchant's house. Our Cybersneak was monitoring all commuincations in and out of the place. The planet Aurelia had taught us to be paranoid and we were taking full advantage of our roles as spies. We And we pulled into the very plain and servicable bunker above the Western desert.

Our party maintained thier own transport fliers and cargo movers adapted for the winds of planet Aurelia.
Our sand dog hosts were having ritual combat training drills and we quickly got involved in watching and then getting lessons in shield combat. And more then a few bumps and bruises. This was a perfect excuse to use Godstar's
duelling and sword combat rules with the stipulation not to take the bouts seriously. We learned that one of the other minor houses had been possibly using bio weapons on our hosts the Sand Chiggers.
Things got very serious quickly because of the fact that among our ranks is Doctor Talbot a bio weapons and Hub Navy doctor whose are 'grizzled doctor'. The good doctor is actually looking for Clement pirate bio weapons that have made thier way too Aurelia. We radioed back to the
Mainstay class Freighter the USS John Henry in port . Our own party were fine and to monitor the outside edge of the bunker/military base  for other house military activity. Our doctor ended up working with the locals to treat the sand dogs

We collector our fee from our hosts but decided to stay on for the moment with the Sand Chiggers. And possibly take a secondary contract with them as house support or vice versa. All in all a good game last night!

Tea or Detention - The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg- Session Report Two

Last night's game had us pulling into dock & dealing with the day to day issues of space dock. If you'll recall last time we are actually agents working for the Hub Federation Navy. And we pulled into the very plain and servicable trade station above  the planet Aurelia.

If you'll recall last time we were dealing with a nasty sand dog pirate and trailing him into the sector on an innbound  Mainstay class Freighter. Our own party were a part of the USS John Henry. The Henry isn't anything remarkable but it serves as our base of operations at the moment.
And we've got support staff as crew aboard the Henry.

Our Sand Dog wasn't quite into port after getting all of his papers gone over and minor medical done. We noticed two well known pirate agents moving towards are pigeon & things almost went sideways fast.
Our two guys made them and then got in close. We saved our sand dog as shots were fired! The agents managed to escape in the confusion and we got hauled into the station's brig for questioning. And possible deportation!
The Million Suns empire authorities had our party pegged as spies for a rival minor house. And things were sliding sideways fast. Fortunately our cybersneak was on the issue and we got let go after several major orders were given by the controlling house's headquarters.
We beat it out of there and took a gig planetside after being cleared by the authorities again! We began to look into the local sand dogs and nearly got our heads blown off dealing with one of the priests whose interests in local trade and commerce were well known. He employs sand dogs as bodyguards. That evening we got invited to his abode for supper and tea. More to come!

Transportable Goods - The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg- Session Report One

It's one thirty in the morning and I've just gotten back from running a bit of Godstar/Clement sector adventure. And this is going to pick up right from here. The PC's in tonight's game were part of a trader shake down crew venturing into the industrialisation zone  on the planet Aurelia. The player's PC's were part of the crew of the USS Jon Henry Mainstay class Freighter. They were hooking up tonight with a huge bulk carrier from the Million Star Empire.

They are hauling timber, food stuffs, and more too  the planet Aurelia. They are also escorting a cyberdeck from the Hub navy for an exchange with one of the major houses. There's nothing glamourous about this run. And everything seems to be going by the numbers. But actually the entire crew are actually Hub Navy agents and personnel shaking down a rogue sand dog pirate.
This scum has been acting as a 'spotter' for pirates to target  cargo vessels on both sides of the wormhole.
Our group just made the jump into the Million stars empire in tonight's game. The players experienced major culture shock when they came face to face with thier first genetically modified human and uplifted animal of the Million Stars Empire. Not that such things are not common in the Clement sector. The Million Star Empire's genetic modifications hit differently because they bare in mind the extremely alien nature of the planet. And then there's the age of the colonies of Aurelia. There's a sense of age when it comes to the Million Star Empire even though it now an up and coming power aligned with the Clement Sector!
The Hub Federation Navy book was instrument in rolling up tonight's PC's. Such a great book for this crew of agents and navial personel.

Outlaw: Crime in Clement Sector Third Edition & The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg

"I am against my brother. My brother and I are against our cousin. My brother, my cousin and I are against our neighbours. All of us are against those who come from off-world."

- Utani Proverb

So let's pick it right up from here on the blog from a couple of days ago & the role of the minor houses greatly accelerates as the Million Star Empire takes center stage in the worm hole doors of the Conduit swing both ways. The minor houses are going to bring the criminal elements & trade in villainy right to the doorstep of the Clement sector. And it's going to be Outlaw: Crime in Clement Sector Third Edition that hits this idea quite nicely with a ton of PC options to bring into the Clement sector & the  Million Stars Empire. These PC options are put front & center; "Outlaw provides seven character building careers for those who want to play a criminal character or simply have that as part of their background.  Cleaners, Drivers, Dealers, Forgers, Hitmen, Prisoners, and Smugglers.  Need a shady background?  We've got it along with a chapter filled with tasks providing the Referee with easy references to allow a character to attempt such dirty deeds. If they get caught, we have information on how to deal with a trial and imprisonment."

'The East meets West' vibe of 'The Frontiers of Darkness' campaign pushes the idea that crime and villainy are universal. And there is no place within the darkness of the frontier of space where the PC's cam escape this fact. The dangers come not simply from aliens but from humanity. The murderer may be someone that the PC's are flying with! The Hub Navy and Million Star empire are going to have thier own undercover agents among the crews of various ships. And missions for PC's may be uncovering, adding, or hindering such agents. Perhaps even murdering said operatives.
Outlaw: Crime in Clement Sector Third Edition has everything that a Frontiers of Darkness campaign needs in the form of guidelines for setting up front companies, dealing with pirates, and agents of pirates to getting minor criminals on the PC's payrolls. Skull and Crossbones: Piracy in Clement Sector Third Edition is another highly useful book for getting the PC's to crossover into the otherside of the law. Bradley WarnesIan Stead, &  Michael Johnson have some excellent starships that can easily be sancitioned into the terrors of the space lanes of Godstar.
Those pirates from the Clement sector who try to navigate the streets of  three crater cities of Primus, Secundus and Tertius serve as the capital of Aurelia, are in for a rude awakening.. The culture shock are going to be profound. Factions on Aurelia are powerful, dangerous, and can come down on outsiders hard.  And here's where the Sundogs and the Syndicates come into thier own; "Subura Syndicate – Organised crime mixes violent action with subterfuge, criminal enterprises and espionage. Every other faction becomes a potential target as far as the syndicate is concerned – prepare to make lots of enemies! Just like the Sun Dogs, a player wanting to play a gaugamelan alien can do so easily, since there are many of that race within the organisation."
And what about the Millon Stars Empire's  GAUGAMELANS? Simply put these are another genetically altered variation of humanity altered for some lost alien colony. Thier origins within a Frontiers of Darkness game campaign remains the same.
The Million Stars Empire is now an up and coming power able to compete with the Clement sector on an equal footing. And what are these sectors competing for? The blackness of the new frontier. The 'space western' aspect of the Clement sector hasn't changed and in point of fact it's intensified. Think of the post Conduit collapse as almot akin to the post Reconstruction period of America's Old West. Add in the Million Star Empire as an upstart Mexico or Texas style state for our analogy and the roll of Godstar gets a bit clearer. So is it any wonder why the Million Star empire is distrustful of outworlders?

Ship File: Celeres Class Escort & The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg

When it comes to hauling materials, supplies, etc across the frontiers of space especially within the Clement Sector. And now the Million Stars empire is experiencing military power and sheer weight of numbers  behind the  the Quick Ship File: Celeres Class Escort. And this blog entry  picks right up from here on the blog the other day.

Why is the Celeres Class Escort. so damn important? Because it transformed the ability of the major houses within the Million Sun Empire ability toward cheap and cheerful commerce. And that means that the economic powerhouse of the Million stars empire returns. It's not simply one class of starship.
But the fact that one class of starship can give way to a technological revolution in starship manufacturing. And this comes down to the description of the  Celeres Class Escort.. According to the copy of the Celeres; "The Celeres Class Escort, from The Horizon Green Gmbh Shipyards, is a capable 600 dton escort vessel, with 5G acceleration and Jump 2, intended to support larger cargo, colony, or bulk material haulers, as well as the shorter range passenger ships."

"It comes in two versions: fitted with 6 turrets: 3 x triple lasers, 2 x particle beam cannons and 1 x triple missile turret (or 1 x missile bay, and reduced cargo capacity, in the later model)."
Remember that in the first part of the campaign we've had criminals, pirates, and renagade corporations taking full advantage of the opening of the 'Conduit' into & out of the Million Stars Empire. The arrival of the Celeres class escort goes back to the fact that the
opening of the wormhole gateways between Clement sector and the Million Stats Empire sets the stage for all kinds of missions for the Hub Federation Navy.

And the Celeres Class Escort is a  perfect star ship design to share between the Hub Navy and the Million Stars Empire. This is going to help cement relations between the Million Stars and the Clement sector.

The jig is far from up for the criminals and lowlife corporations as well as the minor houses from the Million Stars. They are going to buy thier own versions of  the Celeres Class Escort through dumb corporations and star port militias. This was done by the Conferates during the American Civil War with weapons and munitions.
Outlaw: Crime in Clement Sector Third Edition hits this idea quite nicely with a ton of options to bring into the Million Stars Empire.

The exacution of a number of criminals by the Million Star empire is not going to stop the flow and influx of crime and underhanded activities. The frontier of the Clement Sector is going to see more of the type of piracy the Million Stars is used to as the flow of criminals goes both ways.
The interstellar economy is going to dictate how and where the nefarious activity comes into the Clement sector. The Clement sector itself is bit interstellar civility on the outskirts of a very alien blackness. And it's going to need all of the friends it can get. The opening of the Conduit back into the Million Stars empire is a curse and blessing but mostly a blessing for now! The  Celeres Class Escort has all of the hallmarks of a great addition to this campaign. Solid lines, a great design, excellent line up with the Clement sector ships and much more. I'm really happy to have bought this one!

The Hub Federation Navy Third Edition & The Frontiers of Darkness - Zozer Games Godstar & Independence Games Clement Sector rpg

"Over eleven years after the collapse of the Conduit which led back to Earth Sector, the Hub Federation Navy remains the largest military force within Clement Sector. With dozens of vessels ranging from cruisers to lowly sloops, The Hub Federation Navy is a reassuring bulwark of security to the citizens of the Hub Federation many of whom are still shaken by the severing of the long link back to humanity’s birthplace.

Now you and your players can join this force with Hub Federation Navy!
Hub Federation Navy provides an in-depth look at Clement Sector's largest fighting force. The book gives Referees and players details concerning the navy's origin and history and its foundation built on the long traditions of the national navies which preceded it.
Hub Federation Navy also provides full character career progressions through eleven specialized navy career tracks usable with Clement Sector, Cepheus Engine, or any other 2d6 based science fiction game. Chart your character's course and take your character through a full naval career from the General Duties career track all the way to the High Command career track!
Sign up for a life of adventure! Join the Hub Federation Navy!" Right so let's pick things right up from yesterday's blog entry on our Godstar/Clement sector campaign. Now if there's a right hand of the Clement sector whose going to be conducting escorts for trade vessels into the Million Star Empires, fighting pirates, dealing with the day to day disasters of interstellar travel it's gonna be the Hub Federation Navy. The Hub Federation Navy is going to be dealing with a ton of diplomatic and a ton of trade issues with the Million Stars empire. The collapse of the Conduit was major blow to the Million Stars Empire as an up and coming power. The opening of the wormhole gateways between Clement sector and the Million Stats Empire sets the stage for all kinds of missions for the Hub Federation Navy. The realization of the existence of the Godstar itself is going to cause a revolution in religion and even xenobiology. And even more telling is going to be the ferrying of pilgrims, tourists, etc. into and out of the Million Stars Empire. And the Hub Federation Navy is going to be right there conducting operations around and possibily in the Million Stars Empire sector. And this leads to plenty of opportunities for PC's to head off this point for playing on the cutting edge of the largest fighting force within the Clement sector. And then there's the fact that the Hub Federation Navy is going to be using it's own resources to explore the construction of the wormhole and gateway's forces that have suddenly allowed these two sectors to connet again. And what about the Earth sector?! There's going to be a movement to find out what happened to the Earth sector. And you can well believe that the Hub Federation are going to be leading the charge for expediations back to the home planet of these galactic powers. And you damn well bet that tons of trade ships coming in from Moontoad publishing are going be turning to the Hub Federation Navy when things go wrong between sectors. And then there's the fact that the Hub Federation Navy is going to be looking out for thier own powers in the Million Star empire. There are tons of irons that the Hub Federation Navy has this in this new sector!
