The Lost Legion A Cha'alt Quantum Simulus - Wretchedverse/Cha'alt game Mini Campaign Continuation

All right I've been meeting with my players about a Wretched Darkness/Cha'alt campaign that picks up where we left off here.  In what's left of the United States a Wretched Legion training mission has gone missing in the Alaskan frontier! The Traveller Society's inner circle has it's own theories about the matter and have hired the PC's to find out what has happened?! The Crimson Legion has a long history of military intervention on many worlds.
The Wretched Legion soldiers have gone missing by entering a portal to the Isles of Purple Haunted Putrescence. Needless to say that that thier in a world of trouble! The islands want one of thier own back and in this case it was a native of the Purple Haunted that has tried to start a life outside of the time haunted gonzo place. The powers of the islands have other plans however.
This particular squad has attracted the rather unsavory attentions of Kauthua a rather nasty Serpent Man wizard.
Kauthua wants to sacrifice the NPC Wretched Legion over to one of the Lovecraftian Old One powers that control the isles in return for devine favor.
There are several other factions on the island that have also vested interest in the 'lost legion'. This includes several Sasquatch dark shamans who would love to drag the legion soldiers deep into the Dreamlands to sacrifice them to the Wendigo spirits in exchange for supernatural favors.
Because of   the Isles of Purple Haunted Putrescence buffet between the Beyond & the realms of dreams the realms of the islands is reachable from a great many other worlds.
The purple isles is also where a PC could in point of fact gain mutations or supernatural abilities or lose thier lives completely. There are several urban shamans who have used the islands as testing grounds for thier own pupils. And many urban legends surround the islands. Almost as if the three  islands themselves are alive and a faction vying for whomever fall into thier clutches.
Several of the factions within Wretched Darkness, Wretched Space, and Wretched New Flesh are aware of
the significance of  the Isles of Purple Haunted Putrescence. Speaking with our own players there's deep interest in returning to the Isles of Purple Haunted Putrescence

Cha'alt Quantum Simulus - Wretchedverse/Cha'alt game Mini Campaign

Right so when it comes to Easter everything is in the rear view mirror now. So with all that gone we've been talking with friends about starting up our Wretchedverse/Cha'alt game sessions again. This time we want to take a different direction with our games primarily because of the direction of Wretched New Flesh.  Avalidad has been the starting point for our games and also the black market for forbidden technologies coming in from Cha'alt.

Cha'alt itself is a sea of weird lost artifacts, dangerous aliens, strange slave girls, and more. But it's the fact that the planet is a sink hole for every dangerous demon, alien god, and horror that has the players wondering if thier PC's can survive on the gonzo horror world. This unto itself makes a crossover with the Wretchedverse not a question of if not when.

Because of this and a morass of other factors the gates between worlds have been shattered. And this has allowed the appearance of horrid locations on Earth. These locations include the Island of Purple Haunted Putrescence.. This has emboldened the cults of various Mythos entities to increase thier presence on Earth. And thus moving the doomsday clock for humanity closer.  Not even the Wretched Legion has a handle on the situation and this leads to even worse consquences as the situation grows worse. Why? Because the royal families of Torth are calling in supernatural favors from thier Lovecraftian allies. They want a slice of Earth & Cha'alt and they don't care whom they have to slice to get it. And thier searching for the forgotten vaults of Cha'alt.

And this gets into our use of  Vault of Cha'alt #1 from Brainstorm Books & Games. This adventure is going pit our party against the forces of the Cha'alt vaults from the time before time. And then things are going to start getting messy.

The players over the last couple of years have dealt with renagade Zedi knights from Alpha Blue, all kinds weirdness from Cha'alt, and more. That being said the high strangeness of Vaults of Cha'alt might really test the players resolve. Hard to say if Vaults of Cha'alt issue one is good. The play is going to be the thing with any of these. There's still the question of using White Star to help fill in some of the gaps. Because Wretched Space does a solid job with some of it's issues.
Vault of Cha'alt #1 from Brainstorm Books & Games, is an interesting parody of a retro horror comic/supplement for Cha'alt. It has a ton of good solid additions to the gonzo Vengerverse.
Do you need it if you own the three Cha'alt volumes?! Probably not but your gonna want it because it's a solid supplement/set of adventures.

Return of the Clown! - Cha'alt, Wretched Space, Wretched Flesh, and even LoFP's Carcosa As Adventurer, Conqueror, King Rpg Campaign Focus

So let's pick up right from where we left off last week on the blog here. And just before we ended the game the PC's found one of their hirelings killed off by a xenomorph emerging from the stomach of the poor bastard! And there was clown paint all over the place! That means that Bazo The Clown is back! There is a ton of history between the PC's & the demonic clown bastard!

It's been a very busy day to say the least & we're only now getting together. Tonight's game pits our 'heroes' against the forces of darkness. Bazo The Clown is back & the PC's are seeking hirelings to help them track down the demonic clown. And so their going to Cantina Incel to grab some hirelings to deal with the murderous demonic clown. Upp'thoth is a true Carcosan sorcerer who has worked with our party before. Uppo'thoth is a refuggee from Carcosa & a mutant to boot with left hands with seven fingers and green gold eyes. The dark sorcerer has spells wither flesh, & essential salts always at the ready. He along with his partner were a part of the same murder circus ages back which Bazo was a part of. Groth the Ghoul Jester is also known as Death's Jester is a particularly nasty customer & bodyguard to Uppo'thoth. He's been key in solving several murder investigations that the PC's have been involved with. As a ghoul he can eat the brains of the murder victim & gain the knowledge they had in life. This is done through a familial occult ritual passed on from other members of Groth's family. The hirelings departed the service of the party after the player's PC's departed to take

This leaves the PC's with some bad blood between them & their former hirelings who killed off several rogue desert ghouls were trying to murder the PC's several games ago. The PC's also have to deal with the members of the cult of Karen that they've slayed on this side of Cha'alt atr the Crimson Rock of Sacrifice.

And then there's the siren call of the black pyramid too boot. The PC's have a ton of unfinished business there. Did I mention the fact that the PC's are wanted criminals in the city of Ja'alette?! Because they have a death sentence the for totally taking out a city official there! This is why they fled to other side of Cha'alt.
The ghoul race & several other campaign factors totally come from Lost Carcosa by Tristan Tanner available on Drivethturprg here.  This book contains an alternative OSR Carcosa setting that can easily be used with almost any OSR campaign.

Bazo The Clown is known in our Wretched Space campaign as a murderous & nasty demonic clown of uncertain Lovecraftian pedigree. He's popped up randomly murdered several outlaw NPC contacts & PC relatives. Generally he's made a murderous nuaucince of himself over the last six months or so. Bazo has also appeared in other OSR game campaigns taunting the players with random murders & mayhem

A Piece of the Action - Cha'alt, Wretched Space, Wretched Flesh, and even LoFP's Carcosa As Adventurer, Conqueror, King Rpg Campaign Focus

The head cold has been kicking my ass on Sunday. So with several game sessions cancelled I've been stuck in bed most of Sunday. But I've been thinking about a question that has been bugging me with Cha'alt, Wretched Space, Wretched Flesh, and even LoFP's Carcosa. 'What would happen upon Earth if these Lovecraftian interstellar locations were real', not so much common knowledge as specialty knowledge among the occult & corporate circles. Yes I do realize that these are completely gonzo locations. But taking them completely seriously has led to some interesting situations at the table top. The player's PC's are heavily involved in a Fury Race in last week's Cha'alt/Wretched Space campaign. Here's what's been happening the players are plotting to take over New Albuquerque. And the question came up last week.

Back on Earth the realities of these Lovecraftian interstellar locations are mere rumor & myth except among the alien smoke filled taverns, the silent meeting places of occultists, and black cyberspace of some hackers. Carcosa is the world where the damned  & the lost end up. Cha'alt is an alien opportunity for some spacers & is mostly known only to spacers, the megacorporations, and the mad. The Earth of Wretched Space rpg is where these locations get talked about. That Earth is an rpg setting within it's own right however. What I've actually done is to dig out the  Adventurer, Conqeuror, King, rpg & the Barbarian Conquerors of Kanahu  supplement specificially. The majority of the PC classes, rules, etc. allow me as a DM to get the machinery of a take over of certain Cha'alt locations into the works.

The players want a piece of the action & their either going to get it or get killed taking that piece. There are however certain issues that have cropped up. Such as the fact that back on Earth several of the player's PC's interests will either increase or suffer as a result of such a take over. But what does this actually mean?! It means that certain locations are key to the business ventures & risks that they want to take such as having an alliance with the Santa Fe Starport. They done business there during several key events. And want to deal with the cult infecting New Albuquerque.
They are bound to get more then a few of the wastelander gangs under their banner to help ferment the first part of their plan. Their current Blackguard space pirate adventurers group has more then the numbers to help them pull this off.
The two gladiators that we've got in the party have migrated from being straight up warriors to being psionic warriors who have gotten augmented with psychic drug treatments. The Blackguard have also cleared several minor dungeons giving them a taste for treasure, women, and pillaging. Make no mistake this is an 'adult' campaign even though our youngest player is twenty nine. She is far more vicious then the older more experience players I've found. The players may take over New Albuquerque but after doing research into chaos with a capital 'C' in ACK's. It's my determination that beastmen with a wide variety of mutations are going to be in the player's future.

Wretched Flesh & Wretched Space both offer several PC options such as psionics & ritual magick & more that is perfect to slot into Cha'alt & BCK. The weird mutants & more within the Wretch rpg line has been a Lovecraftian god sent in a way. Thus  allowing me to keep the B/X D&D vibe while using the  OSR creations of the Red Room.

It an't over till Orcus Sings -- Cha'alt: Fuchsia Malaise & Wretched Space Rpg Campaign Session Report

This is going to pick right up where were left off last week for our Cha'alt/ Wretched Space 2nd edition campaign. Tonight the player's PC's were racing along Fury Road after taking bets against themselves through a third party mutant hireling.

I dragged my copy of Venger's Death Race Fury Road.  And the party isn't happy at all. And so the party decided to talk smack to another racer whose pit crew were a group of white suited nuns. This was a big mistake because said racer was actually a cleric of Orcus with a lesser version of a skull crested wand of the undead demon lord.
The party was then bodily thrown out by a pack of zombies made up of the last adventurers who'd trifled with Brad The Anti Cleric of Orcus. Brad is a nasilly voiced cleric whose daddy paid for him to go to the finest necromanic colleges in the big city. Big Daddy also happens to be the head of the cult of Orcus on Cha'alt. He's competing to bring greater glory & attention to Orcus in his very expensive purple floater called the Purple Cyclops.

And there's the small matter of one of the PC's having a secondary head on his back after pissing off the black wizard/necromancer whose got money invested in the party. Rul' The Undying has given the party one of his fastest warmachines. And he wants the party to humililate Brad The Anti Cleric by beating him on Fury road. Wizard may or may not return the party's space craft to them if they win. Notice I said may. If they win they'll go and spend their winnings on drugs, prostitutes, & booze. Let's also not metion the fact that the rest of the party has been working on their own warmachine non stop to get chance to win the race.

And then there's the little matter of the drug agents that are after the party for selling an illegal interstellar drug to groups of fruities who were actually weapons runners. The party hates & I do mean hates Brad The Anti Cleric for turning them in with the empire of Humanity. There is after all a bounty on the party. And the party is still looking for a loop hole to get them out of the 4000 parking tickets that the party wracked up searching for college aged replacements or stand ins for themselves. Just incase the displinces of pain come looking for them again!

If It Ain't Nailed Down Steal It! - Cha'alt: Fuchsia Malaise & Wretched Space Rpg Campaign Session Report

So once again Venger backed his purple van up to my backdoor & things got wrecked this weekend! Litterally! Back a couple of weeks one of the players mentioned that he'd cut a deal for a used space craft with his share of the treasure. It was an off handed remark?! Right?! Wrong! This week the PC's gang pressed their shaman into using his 'scroll of teleportation' into getting the PC's back to the Gamma Turquoise: Santa Fe Starport & the Fruities (humanoid fruit) that they had cut a deal for a used  space craft. Blaster fire errupted after the Fruities wanted to go back on the deal. They were getting ready to take off from Cha'alt. The PC's loaded everything the Fruities had stolen onto the ship & then proceeded to go into Starport itself. And this is where they got into deep trouble.

The Gamma Turquoise: Santa Fe Starport area of Cha'alt is run by some pretty heavy mutants & aliens as a part of criminal gangs of the area. They didn't take too kindly to random blaster fire being thrown around their end of Cha'alt. And things went from bad to worse when the PC's decided to piss off the local necromancer whose a servant of The God With Many Faces.

The PC's had to fight their way back to their starship & then get the Hell outta of there! They were later lured into a trap at a local brothel by said black wizard using a Cha'alt siren. She ate one of the PC's as payment from the wizard. She wants to sleep with Sir Gala' hard (Zedi Knight) another party member. The party wants to pay off the wizard in drugs but he wants to put the party into the local Fury Road games! He'll gonna mint it off their backsides! So I dragged my copy of Venger's Death Race Fury Road.  And the party isn't happy at all.

Meanwhile, the player's PC's have stashed the spacecraft & are taking bets on themselves while paying an assassin to take out the other death racers. They paid off the Fruities families in fertilizer. Again don't ask. Things got really complicated when the cult of the Karens got wind of the PC's working the death race. They have a rather large score to settle for defective enchanted sex toys the PC's sold them. Again don't ask. Next week we're going down Fury Road!

The PC's also found out about some of the local ruins that contain the fabled  Candy Crypts but they think that this might be a set up by the Fruity families to get some pay back. All of the PC's want to do is get off of Cha'alt (they don't but that what they keep saying) & yet they want to buy more drugs, do more crimes, and get to the local alien & mutant brothels?!
