1d4 Minor Lovecraftian Treasures Table Of The Old Solar System Setting

Now as the twilight's doubtful interval
Closes with night's accomplished certainty,
A wizard wind goes crying eerily,
And on the wold misshapen shadows crawl,
Miming the trees, whose voices climb and fall,
Imploring, in Sabbatic ecstacy,
The sky where vapor-mounted phantoms flee
From the scythed moon impendent over all.

Twin veils of covering cloud and silence, thrown
Across the movement and the sound of things,
Make blank the night, till in the broken west
The moon's ensanguined blade awhile is shown....
The night grows whole again....The shadows rest,
Gathered beneath a greater shadow's wings.

Amid the wastelands & the rolling wilderness of 'Old Earth' the skies are a light with treasures of a million worlds which blow into the solar system from 'outside' our universe. There the Boreas winds crisscross with the Astral & the debris of other dimensions & worlds is carried in on the star winds. Many treasures & weird relics fall from the skies above. Adventurers, salvagers, & many others know when to look to the skies for these objects. The signs, strangeness, & cracks in reality all point to another event happening locally.

There is a gold rush style atmosphere to these events & often adventurers can find themselves in competition with 1d10 other parties of outlaws & claimers who want a piece of the action and sometimes others. There is always an excuse for a bit of violence & danger involved with the recovery of such objects. There is a 60% chance of weird radiations, other dimensional  or other worldly lifeforms hitching a ride on such treasures of the old solar system. Extreme caution should be exercised when attempting recovery of these relics & treasure.

Dimensional shamblers, shoggoths, alien slimes, and a myriad of cosmic demons sometimes hitch rides on these treasures from the stars. Many adventurers will shoot first and die quickly from not understanding the dangers that they actually face to recover many of these incredibly weird items. The services of an alchemist must be obtained for 60,000 gold pieces or better to process these items or dire consequences can result.

1d4 Minor Lovecraftian Treasures Table
  1. Star Geode from the elemental plane of Earth worth a cool 600, 000 gold pieces with the property to turn all it touches to diamond once per day. This power will last for 1d4 months but the thing will burst into thousands of shards of flawless emeralds as its internal power changes & ebbs from the geode. There is a 30% chance of an earth elemental or para elemental living within the thing and 10% that it will be alien and very dangerous to humans or near humans.
  2. Atmosphere Jelly  capable of healing many malevolent or dangerous mutations or magical transformations. There will be enough for 1d6 applications of the the stuff worth 800,000 gold pieces to an alchemist who must transform the stuff into a more benign form for humanity. Otherwise it could act & change into a rapidly fast growing form of green slime.
  3. Black Humbus - A strange black crystal formed from the dimensional interaction between universes. This stuff once ground & processed by an alchemist of 5th or better level is capable of strengthening bone, curing diseases of the human system  and restoring 1d8 years of youth to a human or near human. The stuff must be harvested within a week of falling from the sky or there are dire consequences.
It does 1d8 points of damage to undead but the stuff must be processed or it becomes a fast growing and very dangerous crystal life form capable of growing 1d10  miles a day with none of the properties of healing. Worth 500,000 gold pieces when processed.
  4. Ransom's Folly - This stuff is a blue green star jelly that comes from the rare occasions when a star gate hits a black universe gate. There is a 30% chance that this stuff could result. This material can restore the human mind once it has been dried, processed, & given special treatments by an alchemist of 7th level or better. The stuff is actually a form of concentrated evil created when a micro gate opens into an unknown and highly dangerous level of the 'Outer Darkness' outside our local time space continuum. There is a 60% chance of it trying to take over a character when found and turning them into psychotic killer of pure evil and alien malice.
