They are the hungry ones the subtle beasts that lay just outside of our material universe waiting. Waiting for the moment to strike. These are the remains of gods from the time before the big bang. They have no mind, no ambition only blind instinct & the hunger from beyond. These things feed on our astral selves & on the two subtle bodies or "carriers" (okhema) intermediate between the rational soul and the physical body.
They exist on the "Electro-Magnetic spectrum at every level.
These things feed on living PK energy - "There are many names for the Astral Body. Here are a few: Linga Sarira, Sanskrit, meaning design body, and the best one of all; ethereal double; phantom; wraith; apparition; doppelganger; personal man; perispirit; irrational soul; animal soul; Bhuta; elementary; spook; devil; demon. Some of these apply only to the astral body when devoid of the corpus after death."
The Hokenitekelo move through a different time/ mind space all together until they find the thing they desire most. No one know what calls them perhaps a series of bouts of insanity or madness of mind & heart. But once they find their target they burrow into the sevenfold schema of planes and bodies. The work of the monster then begins. Mages, wizards, & clerics can't help as the creature begins to suck the "the vehicle of feelings and emotions" & the target begins to sicken & die from within.
The victim must make a save versus poison every 1d6 days or lose 1 point from intelligence, wisdom, & constitution each time a saving throw is missed.
The victim ceases to use their minds "to experience all varieties of desire". They cease to dream after the 6th day know as the inversion of the 'astral light' happens. The victim can not be seen in the astral plane at all!
The victim slowly goes insane as the levels of their class drop away & the creature gets stronger & stronger.
The monster sucks up the 'Astral body' gaining 1d10 hit points over 1d20 days. It eats the dreams of the astral kingdom within the final stages of its feast. The "Astral Body" is the electromagnetic design body that the physical molecules adhere to in the building up of every form, in every kingdom, on the physical plane."
In the final stages of the Trreremsha sickness the monster leaves the victim leaving behind a bit of its essence within the various leaves. The victim does not expire but experiences a hellish rebirthing process on the astral as another Hokenitekelo! The species endures all trails.
Only by calling upon a cleric of the Astral Raiders does the victim stand a chance. Here The boon for these rituals may be far too high for those who stand for the victim though. Rumors of soul caging, astral ruination, & worse filter from certain hellish dream worlds where the astral raiders have their fortresses.
Finally there are rumors of a special super science item that may banish the foulness of these monsters known as the 'Eye of Transference' found on the world of Nu Ophiuchi d (a.k.a. Sinistra d)! These of course are only rumors told by fools & mad men
The Order of the Lizard's Tears is known to call these monsters from the depths of astral space to silence its victims forever!
