Michael "Aos" Gibbons has been busting his hump creating some very entertaining and really cool old school images. Cosmic Tales is a combination of old school pulptastic comic style with weird sci fi tales drawn through a filter of Jack Kirby material twisted around Gibbon's own warped imagination. The comic draws heavily on is science fantasy and old school roots that the author/artist loves.
You can see this already in his Metal Earth blog but Cosmic Tales turns this appreciation and influence up to a solid 'eleven' and then some.
Yet this is his own setting, world, and work done with a sense of style and boldness.

Michael packs a hell of a lot per panel making it a joy to go back and pick out all of the details and high weirdness he packs into the background of the comic.His new character design hint at more interesting things to come!

Comic Tales The Planet Eaters Book One was release on Christmas Eve and unlike the Interview actually delivers a dose of cosmic awesomeness in the form of a dimensional and plane traveling cosmic level space opera comicbook wrapped up with enough ideas to mine for four campaigns!
The artwork is right on par with the awesomeness of the Metal Earth blog which I dig and so this is right up the same alley! This comic packs more ideas per panel then you can shake a stick at. The plot concerns a group of cosmic adventurers who, never mind just go and read the damn thing. Its the sort of thing that draws heavily from Jack Kirby's gee wiz comic thinking with Metal Earth's tone put into a blender set to awesome! Its original, really nicely done and it's evocatively interesting enough to have me looking it over again to get into the back drop and setting.
The tone here is some place between Seventies Sci Fi mixed with comic book space mayhem. Look go over to Metal Earth. Take a look and get into its vibe, you won't be disappointed! Thanks for the gift from the artist of the Metal Earth Blog!

 Its free, fast playing, and fun 
 This is a free one page adventure that you can drop a party of unsuspecting PC's right into. The encounters are fun. The one page adventure is perfect for a science fantasy campaign or as a kick off of a campaign.
The encounters are well balanced to the setting and work very well for a night's entertainment.
The fact is that most players are going to have to work at it though. These encounters are keyed for working with about 90% of the retroclones on the market with some adjustment. The author's weirdness shines through with this one.
There are some real solid finds and relics in this one but nothing that will unbalance a campaign. I've used this adventure location a few times as stopping point for  party before setting them onto Carcosa and points of interstellar mayhem.
Many of the locations remind me of the old Herculoids cartoon. This adventure is perfect for exploration point as a lone planetoid hanging in the far off depths of space.
