"It may be getting cold out there, but the cold has never affected the SERPENT SOCIETY! The UCP is proud to present the 30th issue of The New Marvel-Phile, featuring the Serpent Society! It also features standups by Jacob Blackmon, and a brand new map by Andrew Goldstein! Enjoy!"
The New Marvel Phile issue #30 Serpents of the World Unite! By Steve Jolly clocks in at about forty three pages of Serpent Solutions action. And man, the former Serpent Society remade itself into Serpent Solutions. And these serpent themed super villains as well as mercenaries are some of my all time favorite capes & cowls to use. Let's get into the group's history according to the Serpent Society Wiki entry;"The Serpent Society first appeared in Captain America #310 (October 1985) and was created by writer Mark Gruenwald and artist Paul Neary.[1] Serpent Solutions first appeared in Captain America: Sam Wilson #1 by writer Nick Spencer and artist Daniel Acuña."
Serpent Solutions can best be described as a super villain mercenary corporation complete with health insurance, dental, and retirement plan. Serpent Solutions was founded by
Sidewinder, it acts as a sorta of super villain trade union; "Anaconda, Mamba and Adder survived and confronted Sidewinder. During that time, Sidewinder had invested the money and started the groundwork for the Serpent Society. The Society was to provide its members with better access to technology, bigger access to jobs, higher pay, comradeship, safe lodging, and a host of other benefits. Most importantly, with Sidewinder's teleportation cloak, members never had to fear imprisonment again. It was, essentially, a supervillain labor union."
And what The New Marvel Phile issue #30 Serpents of the World Unite! By Steve Jolly & co. does is a great job in forty three pages of exploring, explaining, running down the history, the members tactics, equipment, vehicles, and more of Serpent Solutions. As well as the spin off member organizations and operations. Serpent Solutions has had it's ups and downs yet still comes back for more. Serpent themed villains of the Serpent Solutions are laid bare for the DM to really use. Serpent Solutions endures with a group stable themed members and the occasional rotating roster depending on circumstances.
The New Marvel Phile issue #30 Serpents of the World Unite! has great layout, easy on the eye fonts, and more. This New Marvel Phile does an excellent job updating and expanding the serpent themed villain roster. Special thanks to Jacob Blackmon for the cool stand-up figure art and Andrew Goldstein for the excellent HQ map.
And these are very deadly serpents who actually live up too thier name sakes. Even these serpent themed villains cross the line into anti hero several times. And so this makes them an interesting set of NPC villains too use.
The organization itself of Serpent Solutions is what one would expect. A group of competant serpent themed villains who are often pulling jobs, dicking each other over, and generally action exactly like a professionally run group of mercs would.
The New Marvel Phile issue #30 Serpents of the World Unite! updates this information with series of historical events, roster changes and more.
Serpent Solutions itself has appeared in our DC Heroes rpg campaign. They were originally funded by the DC cult Kobra but then broke away after bad blood between Kobra and the Serpent Society. Serpent Solutions then made an appearance against the Bat Family. This didn't go well.
The Serpents also appeared in our Marvel Super Heroes Advanced Game in 2022. And they were instumental in stopping an incursion by Darkseid. The serpents also made an appearance in our Ascendant rpg campaign lasy year.
My point here is that The New Marvel Phile issue #30 Serpents of the World Unite! is a great supplement should be download ASAP.
