One of the things that's been bothering me of late is running a full on Adventurer, Conqueror, King rpg based around Michael Moorcock's writing specifically the on going billion year plus war between Chaos vs Law. And this all came about because of the free character sheet called Bleddyn's Stormbringer Sheet.
All of this ties into Axoims Issue #11 that goes into the background of the planes & some of the deeper religions of the ACK's rpg. Law & Chaos are center stage here & their done very well. Civilization vs the wild of the uncivilzed world.
The Secrets of the Nethercity goes into more details with the Elven Cultist, Elven Hierophant, Elven Warlord, and Elven Wizard perfect for an NPC cult of Law or Chaos.
But I don't think that ACK's peusdo late Roman empire world is suitable for the Young Kingdoms rather it far better being its own campaign world. One that is both strikingly similiar & yet oddly distinct from the Young Kingdoms perhaps another vassel world that has been cut off from the Young Kingdoms for centuries.
This goes back to the Elric novels in which the holdings of the Young Kingdoms have been left to wither on the vine of centuries. Perhaps even eons, and its this same sentiment that has alllowed a Romansque society to thrive.
The elements of Chaos could easily be the humanoids that ACK's so loves to use and NPC's themselves should be taken from the Heroic Fantasy Handbook . An unlikely item to include into the mix is Aryxymaraki's Almanac of Unusual Magic. Which could include even more unstable magical adventure elements & practices into the mix.
- Demon weapons & Law Contraptions - These were some of my favorite rpg elements from a dark fantasy game of the days of yore.
- The opportunity for gaining titles and lands!
- Wargaming outer play!
- Dark & twisted alien dungeons for the PC's to explore!
- The chance to do the dirty to the Gods of Chaos & Law by the PC's!
