The two astronauts approached the temple on foot but had forgotten to make the proper observances & continued on foot. The ugly tree sat at the foot of the temple & nothing stirred around it accept the sounds of the bird creatures late in the twin suns.
They climbed the stairs as something stirred the leaves by the old haunted looking tree. The feeling of anger & resentment was a living thing around them. Suddenly everything was a whirl wind of violence, blood, & screams for the Iturguntulornd claimed more sacrifices for its gods!

They are the elemental planar monsters from beyond the pale called back to this reality. They're the wood monsters of legend of a thousand planets & they watch all. Their a blending of twisted science, planar energies, & the kiss of the Outer Darkness.
Iturguntulornd are housed with specially prepared vessels of living wood & nanite infected soil. The essence is implanted within them by the Alchemist priests of Seti 9 & the creatures watch & wait. Each piece of their housings are extensions of themselves. A complete network of sensors & plant. They can hear a pin drop at 100 yards. They attack by telekinesis moving their living & dead leaves of razor sharpness in a whirl wind of death & destruction.
The minds of these creatures are intelligence & malevolence wrapped as one. When asked of the comes & going they will telepathically report each & everything that happens within their 4 mile locations.
Each time one is impaled by a leaf of one of these monsters a single hit point is drained & the monster will develop a taste for that person. They may track them as though there was someone just over the victim's shoulder.
Should one attack the tree they will be within the fury of the tree which will lash them for 1d8 points of damage & a saving throw must be made vs poison or the nanite factories will begin the process of disassembling the victim from within! Only the application of expensive super science medical treatments may stop the process.
Many hate these trees & believe them to be a curse from beyond. They believe that the alchemist priests who sell them collect the information from their plant charges & black mail those who buy such monsters. The creatures are found on many worlds acting as holy guardians in temples, fortresses, & many institutions.
