A product of Eldar Thing genetic manipulation of  early homid, alien insectoid, & humanoid genome into one of the most loyal & dedicated servitors around. The Metalunans discovered them one several remote planetoids. The Metalunans adopted the creatures & have used them for centuries.  These bipeds are approximately 6 foot tall & partially feed off of an atmospheric mix supplimented with various proteins (including humanoid flesh).
The mutants uses its segmented arms & crablike claws to lift objects & work security on certain sensitive areas.  They have a very well muscled frames, the shoulders are massive. Their two feet are perfect for a wide variety of gravitic conditions.
The most prominent feature of course are the huge 2 lobed brains. The brains serve a dual purpose. They enable the mutants to have a low level telepathy among themselves & to act as a psionic lens. Any Metaluna super science powers will be received very little effort.  Telepathic commands, & many super science powers will effect the mutants with little effort. Some varieties of these mutants can in fact be used to store a wide variety of  abilities for later recall. The mutant can store a super science power for 1d10 turns & then activate it at any time.       Many feel that this adaptation was a result of the Eldar Things when the mutants were used herd shaggoths across the cosmos. Shaggoths have developed quite the taste for these creatures!
The large binocular like eyes are capable of seeing in a wide variety of  spectrums including several beyond even super science abilities.  They may spot an invisible creature 20% of  the time.

The mouth parts of the creature are hidden behind several parallel horizontal  slashes where the mouth should  be.
The metaluna mutant species has several varieties that have been produced over millions of years of evolution. They can be encountered in large hive like tribes!

There are several special adaptations among these multi limbed mutants that are often encountered on light gravity worlds. These variations seem to be quicker tempered then the ordinary main stream variety!  They seem to be closer to the insect origins of the mutants & are encountered in swarms of 1d10 !
They have a save verus super powers & rays with little problem. More information on these creatures can be found Here

The Metaluna mutants continue to thrive & grow despite the absence of their masters influence. They may be encountered in the massive megadungeon like environments across the universe. Those trying to command their claim  over these creatures are often in for a surprise! They can sometimes be as much of a threat as their ancient masters!  Beware the Mutants!
An ancient illustration of the mutants showing their incredible characteristics & menace!
