The real world animal that inspired this post! More information found here The Tentacled Snake
Discovered late in the human expansion of CA 12,000 in the Scarlet Jungles of Krypton by the first Earth Expeditionary Force. The creature has since been exported to a number of worlds because of its unique properties & psionic abilities. The snake is a rear-fanged aquatic snake native to the Scarlet Jungle swamp lowlands. It is the only species of its genus, and the two tentacles on its snout are a unique feature among snakes. The method it uses to catch large humanoids has recently been a subject of research. The creature spends most of its life in the murky waters of the lowlands & is only dangerous during the mating season when males swarm the lowlands looking for females. The two unique formations found on the snout are actually telepathic sensors that enable the snake to sense the approach of its prey. The snake creates a telepathic illusion of a loved one only seen out of the corner of the target's eye. A message of alarm is broadcast to the victim. This all happens within a round causing confusion in the mind of the victim. The secondary attack of the snake takes place. The victim is bitten & infected with a fast acting toxin which slows down all brain activity within a round or so. The victim must make a save or become its next meal taken by the snake down to the murky waters where it makes its home. The snake spends its entire life in the murky waters of swamps, seas, lakes, etc. anywhere where a large population of humanoids thrive. These monsters have been imported to over a dozen worlds where various factions have used them in biological warfare over the years. They are still a very uncommon weapon among the maverick clone master's bio weapons divisions. Because of the unique properties of Kryptonian DNA sequencing this creature is very hardy & can survive on a myriad of worlds.
From the Traveler's Guide To Interstellar Death & Dismemberment: The Galactic Tourist must take proper care when visiting Ain4 when all 4 moons are in alignment. The local tribal cults of Fallen Squamoids kidnap anyone they can find to the cruel & twisted deity that supposedly manifests upon those nights. The strange alien superstitions believe that the very deity's body forms from these very snakes. More native non sense. Yet disturbingly the Squamoids are not native to Ain 4 & they call themselves the chosen people after exterminating a very annoying race of blue humanoids centuries before. Inofrmation on the The Fallen Squamoids can be found here http://netherwerks.blogspot.com/2011/04/terminal-space-three-more-ts-monsters.html
Very cool. Some of these must be in special tanks down below the ruins on Ain 4...
