Expedition To The Deep Session Report #1 - The Free Gamma World Adventure GW5 'Rapture From the Deep' & S3 'Expedition to The Barrier Peaks ' With The Castles & Crusades Rpg Aligned With The Star Ship Warden Rpg book

"A terrible menace from the sea is threatening villages all along the coast. Whole shoreline communities have been disappearing without a trace.
The remaining area inhabitants have banded together and sent for a group of experienced heroes to help. They want to know what could be causing these horrible events, and more importantly, what can be done to put a stop to them. Is it some new terrifying monster from the depths? Or is there something more sinister at work?

The adventurers will travel deep beneath the waves!"

So this holiday weekend I had zero prep work & DM Steve rang me,' Do you wanna run a bit of Amazing Adventures?!!. My wife wanted me out of the house. With little written down I pulled out something that I'd been working on & it was notes on running GW5 Rapture of the Deep. The free Gamma World adventure '
Rapture of the Deep'  right over here at Wayne's Books

So today I've just gotten back from running a play session of Troll Lords Amazing Adventures sorta. The Player's PC's journeyed through the brass ring and found themselves in Florida or what was left of it! What the PC's found themselves in the middle of was sea side village under attack by mutant fish men! The party of nine players pulled out the stops and it was epic! They were able to beat back the attackers but only barely. The PC's had ported in from a Pulp oriented Earth year 1989 & speaking to the villagers learned the following; "For the last few months, a series of attacks have been made on coastal towns and villages. Whole communities have been disappearing without a trace. All that was found afterward were deserted buildings and the occasional dead body. The odd thing about the bodies that were found is that they were located in hard to reach or concealed areas as if they were hiding from something. The dead had no apparent wounds and their faces were twisted in terrible grimaces"

And on smoke break one of the players says, 'Oh Eric's true to form he's using Gamma World instead of the Starship Warden setting'. When the cleric Father Patrick Trusuno asked what happened to cause the apocalypse on this world. The wise man of the village recalled the starship Warden  falling from the sky when he was achild. This goes back to my blog post S3 'Expediation to The Barrier Peaks' by Gary Gygax With The Castles & Crusades Rpg Aligned With The Star Ship Warden Rpg book here.

Here everything changed when the Warden fell from the sky in South America. Corporations got their hands on the technological artifacts from the wreckage of the  Warden science collection vessel. And technology evolved rapidly! Antigravity, wireless power transmission, viable hand held energy weapons, etc. from the Warden's wreck. All this  accelerated the global tensions and then entropic weapon war happened! There are cryptic alliances but not quite as well entrenched as in classic Gamma World setting. Its only been a hundred years since the appearance of the science vessel.  The PC's encountered a rust monster near the beach and the tree line which caused them all kinds of pause.
So we're using a combination of Starship Warden & the Starsiege rules combined with classic Amazing Adventures for this. But I'm just starting to dig the knife in.

Terror Bees Adapted From Godzilla: The Series - Season 1, Episode - 09 Hive For Cepheus Atom & Those Old School 2d6 Science Fantasy Role Playing Campaign

First created by the Japanese Black Dragon Society as a part of Japan's nuclear weapons program during WWII. on a remote  South American  island. This joint program was done in conjontion with the German high command. The island's geothermal volcanic base proved ideal for the power requirements. But after the first ninety days several mutant Kuiju life forms appeared. The mutated giant bees were some of the worst however. These terrors were used extensively throughout the Fifties as terrror weapons by Nazi fifth columnists.

The Queen mutated bee is very aggressive
& highly adaptable to any envoriment

The giant bees queens were cloned a dozen times & these queens were spread extesively across the Earth. The mutant bees were some of the most dangerous mutants & used as terror weapons up through the 2020's. The mutant bees are highly adaptable able to carve out ecolohicial niches across the United States. Hives or  colonies will displace or deastroy any Kuiju in the area. These mutated bees  have  extensive colony works in the Western United States & even in some remote parts of the North Pole. The mutated bees are highly adapted to their roles as dangerous predators & or ecological reclaimers. Because of their origin these bees are programmed for ecological reclaimation. Weird radiations coursing through the mutant bees will begin mutating the fauna & flora around them within 2d6 weeks.  The Terror Bees Queen is a nighmare able to lay a thousand eggs within a 72 hour period. Terror bee drones die after launching their stingers making them sacrifing themselves for the good of the colony. Colonies & hives can be above ground or below.

Mutated Terror Bees

Gigantism, Survival 3, Melee2, Combat 2, Specials - Jaws of Death - The Terror Bees are able to do double damage to metal or wooden structures. Sting of Terror - The Terror Bee is able to launch its stinger over 30 meters easily,Stings of Horror  the Queen Bee could launch 2d6 multiple stingers at a very quick rate, much like a machine gun and the stinger launch ability of GMK Mothra. The queen bee does not die after it has used its stinger, allowing it to sting opponents multiple times.

OSR Commentary On The 'Sword of Kos' Fantasy Campaign Setting & The “At the Shrine of Othrys” 5th edition adventure - Bringing it Back To The OSR

“At the Shrine of Othrys” begins in the rugged foothills surrounding ominous Mount Othrys, located in a desolate wilderness on the Greek mainland and the legendary headquarters of the Titans during their war with the Olympian Gods. Characters have learned about the presence of an ancient shrine that has lain untouched and hidden beneath the hills for a century and, even as cultists respond to a call-to-arms and converge on it, set out to explore it. Lost knowledge, treasure, and a chance to strike a blow against chaos and evil await those brave and canny enough to find and unlock the cyclopean portals that guard it …"

You can support & check out the Kickstarter right over here.

Today we're gonna take a fifth edition adventure & OSR it back to its mythic ends. We'll be looking at “At the Shrine of Othrys” fifth edition Kickstarter adventure  campaign & dumping it right into the OSR waters.

Skirmisher Publishing has a solid track record with their Kickstarters & their Swords of Kos Fantasy Campaign Setting is  both original & interesting. So when the “At the Shrine of Othrys” Kickstarter campaign came across my desk the wheels began turning. This Greco Roman mythic setting is ripe for running with an OSR set of rules! And in this case Castles & Crusades rpg is perfect to run this setting. The system is close enough to fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons so that conversion is a snap.

With Castles & Crusades combined with the  Sword of Kos setting things can get very interesting  Castles & Crusades Codex Classicum to add a mythic Roman empire to the mix here. This goes a long way towards explaining some of the disturbances  that we've seen in other SoK adventures.

“At the Shrine of Othrys” the player's PC's are quite literally develving into the realm of the mythic gods. There are some very dangerous areas that these PC's are getting involved with. Death is going to be around the corner especially since C&C has its lethal bits.
The Sword of Kos setting isn't known for pandering to PC's. There's a ton of monsters capable of ending the lives the characters. Combined with a Rome with its usual machinations of emporers & madmen in the background and events get very interesting.
This isn't my first brush with the
Swords of Kos Fantasy Campaign Setting . Here's how I'd run any adventure set within the mythic realm of Kos. First grab any of the Ray Harryhausen Sword & Sandal films. But  'Jason & The Argonaughts' film from '63 springs to mind when I read through some of 'Sword of Kos' material.

From here “At the Shrine of Othrys” adventure agenda is going to be come far clearer. Anytime PC's are messing in the affairs of the gods things are going to get complicated.  The second film of Harryhausen that springs to mind is the original 'Clash of the Titans' film.

There are a few things that spring to mind whist reading through the Sword of Kos setting. The setting rings with struggle, conflict, combat, & the mythic. That being said there are a few things when running or DMing this setting come to mind:
  1. Death is lurks around the mythic & legendary especially around the 'Sword of Kos' setting.
  2. Even heroes can die and its something that the PC's need to be aware of.
  3. The PC's are mythic heroes and as such they have a target on their backs.
  4. Skirmisher Publishing has some solid adventure published for the Sword of Kos setting so there is a solid adventure basis to pull from for a campaign.
  5. Castles & Crusades works to convert fifth edition back into an OSR assembly for rpg play.

One Stat To Rule Them All?! - The Revolution By Night - Commentary on The Nightshift Companion Kickstarter

So looking around Timothy Brannon's Otherside blog about his & Jason Vey's Night Companion Kickstarter.  But what struck me is this little nugget of information that Tim, ' Guidelines to convert your game to a unified mechanic: both d20-based and percentile-based options are covered'.

This little nugget smells of something that I've noticed for years now. That is that many folks converted 'Call of Cthluhu' rpg adventures to their favorite horror games. Now I doubt that either author would try to violate the copy right or trade mark of any rpg company. But what they have done is actually allowed DM's to create a set of unified rpg rules that allow the DM to convert their favorite horror adventure into their own campaign.
But what it really means is that the OSR B/X driven horror rpg is controlled by the players & the DM. There are a wide variety of options on the table top for the PC's.
There are enough other horror rpgs on the OSR market place that can & will allow the DM to construct their own campaign on their own terms. This is an important factor in the tool box approach to horror gaming.

Over & over again we see this type of rpg system that allows the DM to pick & choose from another of OSR or even Non OSR sources to add to their base 'Night Shift Veterans of the Supernatural Wars' rpg. This was something that occurred to me when recently we were writing up guidelines for using
Miguel Ribeiro's 'Welcome to Saint Cloud' the author's horror themed homage adventure to Twin Peaks.

'Welcome to Saint Cloud'  is a solid NPC & encounter setting adventure so this means that its adaptable to Nightshift Veterans of the Supernatural Wars rpg. Even though these two rpg supplements are not from the same publisher the Nightshift Companion will be able to handle many of the elements of the Actual F*cking Monsters rpg. 'Welcome to Saint Cloud'  is a love letter to David Lynch's films especially 'Twin Peaks'. Its a very surreal adventure which takes advantage of the magick lodge TV show element. Over the last couple of months I've been mapping out several campaign notes using 'Welcome to Saint Cloud' :
  1. A cast of ecentric NPC's capable of killing each & everyone of the PC's.
  2. A US  North Pacific  adventure that takes full advantage of the occult nature of 'Welcome to Saint Cloud' :
  3. Several adventure hooks that could be incorporated into Nightshift to hook the PC's into a campaign 'Welcome to Saint Cloud' :
  4. The Lynchian elements could be the premiere of the Nightshift monsters that provide a shocking adventure element.
  5. I believe the Nightshift Companion is going to be absolutely essential to running 'Welcome to Saint Cloud' .
The Nightshift Companion Kickstarter is going to be on for another 28 hours here. So why does this matter?! Well it matters to me because I backed this particular kickstarter.

Setting Up A Warpland Campaign With Sword of Cepheus rpg Resources

The sky has been turned into a mind bending kaleidoscope, occasionally delivering mutagenic maelstroms that change forever the appearance of both the landscape and its people.

Abysses have punctured reality, corrupting it all with their infectious energy while seducing with power those insane enough to listen.

Sometimes you've got to figure out games as you go. Take for example Warpland rpg which has been sitting on my table for two weeks. DM Steve blundered by today & quick thumbed through my copy of this dark beauty. You know this is pretty bleak, right?! Yeah.. Well I'd invert the setting & run  an 'Italian Sword & Sandal'   also known as peplum campaign in this setting! Why?! The fact is that Warpland is ripe for Jack Kirby like heroes of legend & DC's Fourth world saga hijinks. Basically, Warpland screams out to be used as 'bigger then life' mythic venue.  And this is a great venue for a Europe of  a Sword of Cepheus rpg style campaign.

So what is about Warpland that's so appealing as a bigger then life Sword & Sorcery OSR style game?!  Well, the Warpland location  setting is the essence  that Eighties Fantasy or Sword & Sorcery artwork was made of. A setting that allows the DM to explore, use, and alter it as needed. Now couple this with several other OSR 2d6 products such as Cepheus Atom & Cepheus Barbaric And you've got a ready made campaign.

Cepheus Atom is perfect as a dark mirror for Warpland rpg's ancient past. The weird devices & dangerous artifacts reflect a very nasty past. Simply drop in  Cepheus Atom's into Warpland rpg's setting. So what does this have to do with Warpland?  Warpland is a perfect mirror setting for many Italian 'Sword & Sandal' movies from the Sixties, Seventies, & Eighties.

And Italian Sword & Sandal movies?! Quite a bit.
The  Barbaric! rpg is the perfect 'add on' for this little campaign idea which will mirror the Eighties Italian Sword & Sorcery films of the VHS tape era.
The reality is that the peusdo Europe of  Eighties Italian Sword & Sorcery could be leveled as a part of the Warpland setting.

This weird Europe setting is rife for Chaos induced humanoid races including some half breed PC's. Who can be created from Sword of Cepheus rpg style rules with 'Non-Humans for The Sword of Cepheus.'

What would the agenda be for such a Warpland campaign?! We'll get into that in the blog next time!

Using 'Level of the Lost' By Michael Curtis With Troll Lord Games Starship Warden rpg

"Venture into forgotten territory! When a long-sealed section of the Warden is opened and a renowned explorer goes missing, new opportunities arise for adventure and danger. Rumor has it that one of the fabled Command Rings, potent artifacts of old that grants the wearer complete control over the drifting starship, lies waiting for the taking beyond the forbidding gate. Does your band of daring explorers have what it takes to overcome the threats of The Level of the Lost and claim the ring for themselves? This adventure contains new mutants, new artifacts, and new dangers for the original version of Metamorphosis Alpha."

Michael Curtis is one of my favorite DCC rpg adventure writers. I don't know the man personally nor his politics, etc. But what I do know is the following he writes some kick ass adventures that I've used over the years. And this adventure has some awesome nods in various old school Science Fiction & Fantasy nods or tributes in Level of The Lost.
Now because of the Metamorphis Alpha rpg Bundle of Holding I've been able to leap frog into Goodman Games version of MA.  And I've not been disappointed at all. Level of the Lost by Michael Curtis has some incredible adventure ideas, new artifacts, mutants, & dinosaurs! The adventure is a great but lethal in some of the encounters. This isn't always a combat heavy adventure as there is a lot of NPC action in 'Level of the Lost'. What I really like about this adventure are some of the concepts that are put forward in Level. 'Level of The Lost' feels like a mini campaign in true MA fashion.

Could 'Level of the Lost' be used for the Troll Lords Starship Warden campaign?! In a word yes absolutely it could. And this adventure perhaps more then any other has all of the Amazing Adventures Pulp elements in place.
Dinosaurs, lost world feel, lizardmen mutants, strange technologies, all of these hit the high marks of Troll Lords material.

But would I set 'Level of The Lost' on the Warden?! Not necessarily. And this gets into a bit of quandary that has been plaguing me as a DM.
We know from the timeline of the Warden from the original MA book that there were other ships from the Transplutonian shipyards. And this might be where the 'Level of the Lost' comes in.

The PC's are actually aboard another of the exploration and colonization ships instead of the Warden. And this is where 'Level of the Lost' shines. The adventure could be used as bridge between MA and B/X Dungeons & Dragons as the level leads into X1 Isle of Dread By Dave Cook & Tom Moldvay.

Before the OSR crowd wants to roast me alive there are several points of interest here.

  1. The mutants of 'The Level of the Lost' fit the profile for the prehistoric animals found in X1 'The isle of Dread'.
  2. Some of the themes of 'Level of the Lost' can be carried over into X1.
  3. This is a perfect crossover point for Castles & Crusades PC's or D&D PC's to join in the fray.
  4. The nastiness at the heart of X1 can be alien or mutant in nature.
  5. X1 offers crossover potential  for the campaigns & a good point to introduce new mutant species.
So is 'Level of the Lost' fantastic?! Yes, does it offer the DM quite a lot to think about?! Yes it does.

Deep Dweller Adapted From Godzilla The Series Season One Episode 'Tourist Trap' For Cepheus Atom & Those Old School 2d6 Science Fantasy Role Playing Campaign

The Deep Dweller developed by the Nazi third columists of the inner Earth during the 'Occult Wars' as a self sustaining bio weapon. This  like fish monsterousity is prone to violence & destruction at a moment's notice. The Deep-Dweller looks mostly similar to a frogfish of colossal dimensions, it has a large mouth full of fangs that are its main weapon, protrusions protrude from its head, a row of thorns runs down its back and it has 2 small arms with 3 claws on each.

The Deep Dwellers are now a hazard of 2021's seas and highly dangerous. They are attracted & disoriented by lights from passing ships. They attack such lights thinking that these are prey and they have taste for both kuiju & human flesh They are however very indistrimiant hunters & monsters.

Deep Dwellers
#Appearing usually one but during spawning seasons 1d6 miniature deep dwellers will be present.

5/10, Move 20m, Swim 40M, Armor 4, Claw (melee 2d damage),  Bite (melee 4D damage),  Survival 2,  Combat 3,  Melee 2 . Gigantism,  Regeneration As Troll, Amphembous,
Special Abilities - Hose em Down - The Deep Dweller can shoot a jet of water for 2D damage over 30M, All in one bite - The Deep Dweller can leap & swallow a car sized object once per day. Anything caught this way takes double bite damage, Bugling Bite - The Deep Dweller can bite  for double damage once per day, Slaughter Swim - The Deep Dweller can double its swim movement when it goes into a beserk frenzy when exposed to bright light.

Deep Dwellers are sometimes smuggled into areas for destruction by Nazi fifth columist terrorist units as small eggs. The eggs form into a fully grown Deep Dweller within 72 hours and then go on rampages.

Quick Commentary On Zozer Games Hostile Setting Book

"HOSTILE is a gritty, near future roleplaying setting for the 2D6 Cepheus Engine rules that is inspired by movies like Outland and Alien. It is a universe of mining installations, harsh moons, industrial facilities, hostile planets and brutal, utilitarian spacecraft. And out here the Unknown is real – it is horrific: there are rumors of the disturbing side-effects of hyperspace, of ancient horrors entombed on icy moons, and of monsters – killer aliens, perfectly evolved to survive the hostile wastes of space – at any cost. "

So I might have accidently bought the new Hostile rpg setting book last night. The pdf just jumped into my cart. What are the new changes to the Hostile setting book?! Well according to Paul Elliot of Zozer Games from the Cepheus Facebook group; "Only new full colour starmaps, some skill changes on the career tables, shorter skill descriptions and a couple of new robots and drones. The intent wasn't to rewrite the book, but to clean up alot of typos, and create a spiffy new layout that will form a lovely new layout with bookmarks and index."

Our group of Hostile players has been on hiatus while storm damage is being cleaned up and this baby is in our grubby little hands. Now that the Pdf is in my hands there's a few changes already that have been pointed out. The layout is tighter, the print easier to read, and the information is tightly packed. And everything works nicely with the already published Cepheus & Hostile universe which is a huge plus for us!

What does it mean for the Cepheus Engine/Hybrid game that we've got in progress?! Not all that much infront of the screen. Behind the screen its gonna mean a whole lot according to what we've been reading about the Hostile rules book when it hits the ground. According to Paul there are some changes;" It won’t be a reprint of CE with nice pictures, it is rewritten with sections taken from some key Hostile supplements and worked in. Plus new rules and the core combat rules from Modern War tailored to the Hostile setting."
This also means that Hostile is gonna be fully compatible with Modern Warfare meaning that you can run Modern War as the colony forces for on the ground war! Rebellions, colony suppression, brush fire wars, etc. are all going to be far smoother now.

OSR Commentary On 'The Sword & The Sorcerer' film From 1982 As Inspiration For Your Old School 2d6 Campaigns

" A mercenary with a three-bladed sword rediscovers his royal heritage's dangerous future when he is recruited to help a princess foil the designs of a brutal tyrant and a powerful sorcerer in conquering a land."

"Prince Talon: I have no quarrel with you. Out of my way.

Xusia: Cromwell is mine!

Prince Talon: Now we have a quarrel."

Welcome back to the lair of Sword & Sorcery, where when you a kid HBO was the basion for where popculture came to die on a Saturday afternoon. 'The Sword & The Sorcerer' had a bit of it all broad swords,  boobs, black magick, & all that bodes ill. This one is a favorite of mine going back to seeing it at a theater in Eighty Two. This film has a bit of everything designed by a hyperactive six year old including the a sword that shoots swords!
The plot is both Eighties awesomenss & that 12 year old next door who used to sniff glue that got the Eightes Basic & Expert Dungeons & Dragons box sets. The plot according to IMDB Nick Riganas's "
In a dark epoch of sorcery, the murderous megalomaniac, King Titus Cromwell, awakens the demonic necromancer, Xusia of Delos, to usurp the throne of the benevolent King Richard of Eh-Dan, enslaving his daughter, and forcing into exile his youngest son, Talon. One violent decade later, Talon--now a great warrior wielding a magnificent triple-bladed sword--returns hell-bent on revenge, unbeknownst to him, however, that the evil sorcerer is alive, gathering his strength for the ultimate battle. Will the dauntless adventurer restore peace to the long-suffering kingdom? Is this the return of the lost prince?"

Alright so it sound like I'm knocking 'The Sword & The Sorcerer' nothing could be further from the truth. For Warpland the movie provides a perfect mini campaign blueprint. The tyrant king and his black sorcerer square off as the mercenaries have to save the day! And scattered throughout are the usual dangerous occult & technological items.
'The Sword & The Sorcerer' works on several layers. As a mecenary warrior film it doesn't do so bad at all. You've got background enough on Talon's years abroad in the world. Richard Moll as Xusia hits all of the black wizard high marks.
Lee Horsley is actually decent as Talon when it comes to the displaced prince cum mercenary leader.

'The Sword & the Sorcerer' makes excellent fodder for an OSR Sword & Sorcery campaign. Here are five reasons why:
  1. Relunctant heroes, if there's ever a group of pathetic yet lovable mercenaries. Talon's group gets into several predicaments that have happened to players that I've played with.
  2. An actually nasty black wizard character whose capable of taking out the main villain for his own reasons.
  3. A plot that puts the villain, hero, and factions together for reasons.
  4. The Tri sword, don't use this magic item like ever.
  5. A plot that's easy to lift for a Sword & Sorcery rpg mini campaign.
There are also several 2d6 Sword & Sorcery rpg's that also could draw perfectly from the world of 'The Sword & The Sorcerer'.  Barbaric! by Omer Golan-Joel from Stellagamma Publishing springs to mind coupled with Warpland is perfectly suited to simulate the Sword & Sorcery world of 'The Sword & The Sorcerer'.

Warpland is ideal suited to run a 'Sword & Sorcerer' film style campaign. The weird dark ancient Earth of Talon's universe may have Warpland's setting replacing the North pole. This way the world of Warpland is intact but its strange influences continue to infect the Earth.

Using 'Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015)' by Jobe Bittman With Troll Lord Games Starship Warden rpg

"This is the only home you've ever known. They call it the Silver Waste-a desert sea of silvery dunes blasted by endless sandstorms during the day and freezing temperatures at night. For generations, your tribe has clung to life in a concrete building subsisting on the trickle of edible goo spewing from a broken replicator. You and the other hunters vie against rival mutant tribes and hungry scorplions in the scant hours between storms searching for fresh game and wondrous devices from a bygone age of technology. Is this all there is to life? No one that treks more than a couple miles from home ever returns. Everyone says they are dead, but that can't be true. Not all of them. What if there is a way through the giant impassable wall to the south? What if there is an easier way of life beyond the dunes? You've hoarded water and rations for weeks waiting for the right moment to set your plan into motion..."

My job often requires quite a bit of reading, research, & roping in many different resources. Often times my roleplaying requires the same. Same thing with the Starship Warden rpg & its attendant supplements. I like so many others had missed the Kickstarter.  But grabbed the Starship Warden rpg book as soon as it came out. But I could have sworn that there was an adventure that ages ago I saw for the original Metamorphis Alpha first edition where a lone band of adventurers finds a ziggurat in the silver deserts of the Warden. Turns out that it's a part of the Goodman Games run of the Metamorphis Alpha rpg by James Ward. This is a part of the MA Rpg Bundle of Holding that's got five days to go

Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015) by Jobe Bittman  be adapted for the the Starship Warden rpg?! Short answer? Yes
As a starting adventure its very interesting & clocks in at only sixteen pages. The village is a pretty in depth village location as a start point for an adventure considering that this is a Goodman Game product. Yes this is a rather deadly little adventure but it hits the high points for MA.
The artwork is very typical of 2015 Goodman games but hits the high marks for MA. The stats should be easy enough to convert to Starship Warden stats easily enough. And the adventure doesn't overstay its welcome.
For new PC's in the Starship Warden this a good introductory adventure. There's a bit of growth potential if the DM want's to spend a bit of time adapting some of the stats to Starship Warden rules.
Is this an overly impressive adventure?! Yes & no, yes its a solid adventure but if your trying to run the Starship Warden or MA as a 'Castles & Crusades' switch up or Dungeon Crawl Classics switch up then Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015) by Jobe Bittman isn't going to work.

But using 'Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015)' by Jobe Bittman as an intro for The Starship Warden where the PC's are a part of the community of 'Supershop Mart' cut off from the rest of the Warden?! This just might work as a real kick ass intro. The monsters are deadly & the locations dangerous. But from the perspective of a starting player this 'Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015)' by Jobe Bittman  this one might hit all of the high points.
So why does
'Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015)' by Jobe Bittman  hit the high marks in my humble opinion?! There are several reasons:
  1. Kick ass introductory adventure, 'Death Ziggurat in Zero-G  doesn't hold the new DM's hand. You as the DM are expected to know what your doing.
  2. This adventure throws the PC's into the deep end of the Warden.
  3. The adventure has the Goodman Games weirdness factor to it.
  4. There's enough of the original MA feel here to work into your own version of the Warden or other starship
  5. scorplions
Got to say that I really enjoyed reading
'Death Ziggurat in Zero-G (2015)' by Jobe Bittman and its a stand out adventure in my humble opinion. Will I be using it?!
Hard to say really. I'd have to reveal the secret of the players PC's being trapped on the Warden or do I?!
