Old Hrolmar Free Stormbringer 5th Edition Campaign City Pdf

Old Hrolmar by Richard Watts

The last of Chaosium’s published monographs, Old Hrolmar explores the Vilmarian city of the same name,  and details how the home of Duke Avan Astran represents a bastion of change throughout of the Young Kingdoms.  This monograph includes information on the city, its inhabitants and its future in a world doomed for destruction.

I've been raiding Stormbringerrpg.com for months now. Grabbing this adventure, that Q&A, and adding to my on going stormbringer 5th edition planar campaign where needed. This is a 110 page campaign monograph that originally appeared on Chaosium's website many moons ago. The author does an excellent job of capturing this fantastic jewel of the world of Elric.

This is light years ahead of lots of many other published campaigns for Stormbringer and its free there's even some support and player hand outs. There's an introductory guide right HERE

Using Old Hrolmar

There are a myriad of ways of using this campaign. As destination for adventurers, trading point, a model for creating your own campaign city and even adapting it for other games. The material is top notch and very adaptable to a number of fantasy settings for Stormbringer or dare I say any retroclone with a bit of work.
The author would like to thank Stormbringerrpg.com and Richard Watts for this wonderful addition to his stormbringer rpg collection.
No challenge is meant to the trade mark of the Stormbringer rpg or its copyrights. This post is for entertainment value only

Free OSR Adventure - The Tavern Of Daednu By The Oliver Brothers For Your Old School Campaigns

Grab It Right Over

Everything about the Tavern of Daednu is well done and very interesting. This is a small twenty page module that is big on encounters and if done well could well be a first rate horror style introduction adventure. The module paces itself well and solid.
With a bit of work this module could be adapted into a solid location adventure into your old school campaigns. Everything about this module screams add me into your game. Since this is an AD&D 1st edition module, you can easily add it right in. The plot and NPC's here are very generic but with a few clever twists this module can be a party's introduction into the darkness that lays at the heart of your horror or weird sword and sorcery campaign.

According to the Dragon's foot intro:
The Tavern of Daednu seems a pleasant place for adventurers to spend the night, but all is not as it seems. A short adventure for character levels 1-3.
According to the adventure the structure for the module is laid right out in the open from the  introduction:
"The Tavern of Daednu is a short

adventure for 3-8 characters of 1st-3rd level. The scenario works best with
characters of low level who are veteran players. They will of course be suspicious." Don't let this fool you as a DM, with a bit of work this module could make a fine introduction adventure for a Lamentations of The Flame Princess game or a even a game of Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea. The weird adventure elements here are compelling enough to keep PC's interested and busy from the ground up.
The adventure reminds me of Solomon Kane and some of the older Weird Tale influences here and I like the feel that I got from this one reading through it a few times.

There are two levels to the inn and with a bit of clever slight of hand this adventure location can be used over and over. The writing here is interesting, the plot can be reused a couple of times, and personally I think that  the PC's should escape with their lives with this one. Only to have the place show up again later on in their adventuring careers. This is the sort of adventure location where adventurers should cut their teeth and be thrust into the darkness only to escape knowing that its waiting for them.
Grab this adventure, twist it around, and drop it into your campaign for a sword and sorcery twist on the usual basic AD&D game module.

The Free Old School Rpg Horror Resource Protodimension Magazine Issue #26 March 2016 For Your Old School Horror Campaigns

Well, it finally hit the streets yesterday, Protodimension magazine Issue #26 March 2016
has hit the ground running. There is some solid material in this newest issue of the venerable horror magazine. You get a really solid cross section of old school material for Dark Conspiracy starting off  with the NPC Mr. Fitch by  CW Kelson III (Tad) for Dark Conspiracy and a brand new monster Loup-Garou (Demon Wolf) by Tim Bisaillon for Dark Conspiracy. This monster works on a number of levels for the game. There are two pieces of fiction with old school horror adventure potential for Call of Cthulhu; "Sleeping With Beauty, Fiction by me and  "I Love You I Love You," said the Little Blue Man, Blue fiction by Shae Davidson for Bucky both of which have lots of  hooks for plenty of table top game mileage.
What's on the Shelf, Ammunition packaging by Jason D. McEwen for Dark Conspiracy has some great material that can be inserted into your old school game campaigns. I really like The Order of the Veiled Eyes, A great  hunter cell by Scott McClenaghan for Dark Conspiracy that could be dropped into the back end of a campaign for some extra punch. And finally Profile : Riley Groff, Neuropath, An NPC/Contact by Richard Hayden for Dark Conspiracy which rounds out the entire issue. The artwork is very well done. The lay out is better then half of the professional stuff I've seen lately.
I'm totally blown away as per usual with this stuff. So go download it & you won't be sorry. Tell em Needles send ya!

Updated and Expanded Free Science Fantasy Classes Resource - Science-Fantasy Classes and Races For Fantastic Heroes & Witchery As Well As Your Old School Campaigns

Book-pic-1bis
GRAB IT
HERE

Well now Dominique Crouzet is a pretty damn fast game designer, writer, and artist among other talents. He's updated the latest science fantasy addition to Fantastic Heroes and witchery with two new classes which include Runner ( inspired from a classic science fiction film & television show from the Seventies) and a sisterhood class also inspired from a classic science fiction series from the Sixties. I've had a small hand in this little addition to the Fantastic Heroes and Witchery game. According to Dominique:

"I updated the document! It increased from four to eight pages. Have been added two new classes (Runner and Sisterhood Acolyte) plus a few sci-fi skills. Available on my website for download."

Don't worry folks he's back working on Dark Albion and the Beastry for Fantastic Heroes and Witchery! My advise is to grab this latest addition and start getting in on the ground floor to a fantastic old school campaign!

Free OSR Science Fantasy PC classes - Science-Fantasy Classes and Race For Fantastic Heroes & Witchery As Well As Your Old School Campaigns

I couldn't be more happy that the author of Fantastic Heroes and Witchery has decided to take the material from my Otherworld fan material from HERE & HERE . And turn it into a free science fantasy supplemental set of classes. The material is well balanced and very well done.

Book-pic-1bis

"Of course FH&W needs more classes! ;-D So, for play in science-fantasy settings, and inspired by Eric Fabiaschi, here is two new classes: the Planet Trooper and Purple Knight; plus a new race: the Mekan (an android) with its own racial class."
The 4 pages freebie is for download on my website:
http://www.dcrouzet.net/heroes-witchery/?page_id=83

When I first created FH&W, I also planned to do a supplement called Future H&W. I later abandoned the idea. But I have already enough material for a 60 pages supplement. So, now I am thinking: why not? Why should this have to be 130 pages long? I can do a small supplement just 60 pages long. This would be mostly new races, new classes, new equipment, and spells for a magitech-wizard. And this would be focused mostly on science-fantasy, not hard science-fiction. I even have all the stock-art necessary!

In any case, this not for soon. First is the Dark Albion and Blasphemous Bestiary on the anvil...

Now I couldn't be more thrilled with this turn of events.Fantastic Heroes and Witchery is getting the science fantasy supplement it deserves. Except for one small detail.Could I please have at least a partial credit on the website and pdf for inspiring the class? Thanks.
And here's what I was taught years ago,and this is for all you OSR & non rpg publishers, writers, designers etc. Credit the work of those you work with and have links pointing back to your sources. I'm not a person who bites the hand that feeds him but this is a matter of simple manners folks. Fantastic Heroes and Witchery is going to be the backbone of my gaming for the next couple of years at least if not more.

And now an update has been made and the credit installed! Thanks to the author, funny how all I've had nothing but positive experiences with the OSR.

Review of The Free OSR Download Steven A. Cook’s Chaos Hordes For Your Old School Campaigns

Thanks to Gorgon Milk's blog right over HERE for throwing this bit of OSR awesomeness my way. The Chaos Horde's Pdf is a twenty one page OSR download by Steven A. Cook that converts most of the major players of Chaos into Labyrinth Lord horde of nasties for a DM to use.
Special thanks to the OSR Today blog for the heads up on the details of this product. But what's in the pdf?
The download contains a ton of magic items, chaos powers, monsters, minor main line NPC's, lesser and greater demons of chaos, and much more.
This material is perfect for adding a Moorcockian flare to your old school adventures and scaring the living daylights out of your players. There are quite a few familiar faces in this free download. But is it good? In a word its very well done.
File:Symbol of Chaos.svg
Grab it Right Over
HERE
Is it nasty? Very nasty stuff from Steven A. Cook's pen and its all about the NPC's evil powers run ram shod over the DM's campaign. There's no way this pdf was meant for the PC's. These things are pure chaotically evil incarnate given the form of an OSR supplement.
That being said the book goes into solid detail for the labyrinth Lord retroclone and its perfect to really get a party into the DM end of twisted chaos horror mutational nastiness. Is it well done? Very well at that. A good chunk of the Chaos material from yesteryear is included in here and its perfectly suited to add right into an old school campaign.

I have plans for this material in an upcoming campaign. You can find this and much more old school content over at Steven’s blog The Borderlands.

The Pay What You Want Adventure 'The Forsaken Burial Vaults' By Jeremy Reaban For Your Old School Campaigns

Grab It Right
HERE

This is a very well balanced old school dungeon that requires a bit of thought on the part of the party. Why is is it on the Swords and Stitchery side of the blog? Well there elements here that place it squirly on the more solid part of an urban adventure with little effort this module could be place into a more modern or Lovecrafian or Poe style setting.
Jeremy Reaban has released the second module in his HS series.
 According to the author :
My second attempt at making a module. This time a bit longer, 25 rooms, and for character levels 7th to 10th. I ran it with 7th, but that's using 1e rules and with pretty good gear (comparable to the stuff in GDQ).The intro places it right into his 'H' line of adventures and it hearkens back to the look and feel of other old school modules and this was done on purpose.

As I didn't have any suitable color cover art, I took a B&W Dore illustration and colored it to look somewhat like the monochrome modules. I think it looks pretty neat.
And it does indeed look pretty neat and tidy, this module has everything you need for an evening's entertainment with your players.
Everything here is keyed for this to be a dungeon near a city or urban environment. The PC's are going to be thrust right into the heart of this dungeon's darkness and there's an element of the weird about the whole affair.
According to the introduction :

This is a follow-up to my first module, HS1 – The
Lost Shrine of Sirona, which was essentially a
simple hack and slash dungeon. This is a bit more of
a traditional dungeon where the players will have to
use common sense, choosing when to fight and
when not to.
It should be placed close, but not too close to a large
town or small city. I've tried to keep it as culturally
neutral as possible so as to be placed anywhere.
I use some open content from the Teriatic Tome, so
you may wish to peruse that for more details on
those monsters herein. Other monsters are
converted from an OGL book, Into the Black.
Thankfully both are 100% open content text wise, so
I can both quote and refer to them.
Make no mistake the encounters here showcase lots of old favorites and some new monsters in completely different approaches and yet there's plenty of room for that ever nice DYI aspect of the dungeon. I really love the balance that the author/designer has kept. Make no mistake that this is a mid level dungeon and the stakes here are as deadly as ever.
A quick note about the maps here, they're really nicely done and the presentation is concise, non cluttered, and easy to see across the table. Seriously this is a very nice way to present your maps. Nevermind all of the wonderful artwork and such. Give me and my players maps we can see as well as use. Very important design feature and believe you me one that's appreciated.
The contents of 'Forsaken Burial Vaults' can be used with both a regular D&D setting, a pulp style adventure encounter, or even a nasty horror setting if done right. This really comes down to the DM's style, something that is a result of the author's intent. This approach is something that I've come to appreciate during my time running and reading these adventures. The fact that details while there can and should be shunted by the DM using the adventure. Even though this is only a fourteen page adventure, there is more then enough meat on the bone to hang the backdrop of your campaign onto this module.
This is an old school module that I would get, modify for your campaign, and run the heck out of with your PC's. All in all I was pretty damn happy to have run across this module on the interwebs today. Grab your copy, throw the author a few shekels, and go play!
