Red Alerts issue #1 takes The Red System and other Red Room games in an additional set of directions. The Abandoned Temple of the Veiled Sun, a one-shot scenario for Savage Swords written by Mark Brooks, this adventure has enough twists and encounters to keep the players guessing. Roger Jones's Western adventure The Price of Silver, has the old school Western rot and goodness about it. Absolution of Flesh, has a dark and twisted bent about it as an investigative horror adventure for Gothic by the Red Room. There's enough here to get a Gothic campaign off the ground. Lost in Emulation an article by Darrick Dishaw addresses the point of old school gaming where games draws in player's through their mutual emulation into the play of the game. It's a well written and thought out article. But this isn't the only bend that this gaming magazine takes with additional monsters for The Age of Innocence rpg.
Over all Red Alerts issue #1 brings the old school goodness of the Red rpg system and that Red Room goodness. For those who are into the Red Room's creations this is a solidly done magazine. At five dollars there's enough adventure goodness too keep a gaming group going for a couple of months. Grab Red Alerts issue #1 and get rolling some dice with your friends. There's horror, weirdness, adventure and monsters in this one.
