The War of the Worlds Godzilla 1898! - A Troll Lord Games Victorious rpg Campaign Session Report - Deities & Diversions

So last night I was off to play my part in DM Steve's The War of the Worlds Godzilla 1898! game & when everyone got together DM Steve was nowhere to be found?!  Well after a quick series of cell calls it seems that DM Steve was outta of it for the night. Bad pawns had done him in for this weekend!? When we talked he told me to, 'Wing it'. Steve had no idea how right he was. So the party re equipped at Hunter & Hunters whist rustling up some info on the Martians. The heard a rumor about the Time Traveler was missing from New York's main team line up & hadn't been heard from for almost a week. 'Its got to be the Martians' and so they sprang into action. The party piled into a steam taxi & arrived at the Time Traveler's residence! 'We are going to find him! The Martians can't have him he's far too valuable!

Wells studying in London c. 1890 is my Time Traveler

Before leaving the house per chance I had grabbed the wrong bag. And here's where things get interesting. Recently Skirmisher Publishing withdrew from Drivethrurpg & a friend dropped off a box of books, a digital camera, and some computer stuff including a thumb drive. On that thumb drive was ton of Mutant Future rpg books from Skirmisher publishing. So my printer has been busily printing out several books have been  missing from my collection.  And when I went to grab my Victorious  books I put them into the wrong bag! 'Its probably gonna be the damn Morlocks!'
The second that the door opened it opened unto a vast alien field instead of the residence! Wait what?! On the top of a nearby hill rested a very weird house like a shell & below was an abandoned village.

The party locked & loaded guns & then told me point blank,'We are exploring the village & getting the Time Traveler back!'. The village had other ideas party was attacked by six Stickies mutated humanoids from another time & place that my friend Chris Van Deleen had converted over to Mutant Future  from  The Outlanders books by Mark Ellis.

The party of heroes wasn't amused by the 'stickies' killed off every last one of the bastard mutant things. And that's when they found the hidden doorway under the village. Their Castles & Crusades paladin Sir Victor a former member of El Cid's band now a part of of our band of 'adventurers' burnt the corpses.

The party ended up under the village & quickly found the 'Time Traveler' and then face to face with members of the Great Race of Yith?! There was a knocked out & dragged out fight between the lightning cannons of the Great Race & the group of 'heroes'. There was a wave of psionic energy
The heroes suddenly all failed their saving throws almost to a fault! Except their esper!

There was a running battle to fry 'Liddy The Living Lightning' but she retaliated with several key blasts not at the Great Race but the cell door holding the 'Time Traveler'. She freed him with a natural roll of twenty! Once 'Time Traveler' was free he managed to use a small device to freeze two members of the 'Great Race' in place!
Then it was a mad dash between him & Liddy to reach his time machine! And that's when they saw Martians examing the time machine! He grabbed his lady hero & ran to the machine! A swift application of the key & they were lost to time! Or so they thought!
Suddenly they were wrenched from time itself! The Great Race was having none of it! They found themselves wrenched back into the living laboratory house of the Great Race held inside a bubble of null time!

Liddy watched as her friend's brains were scanned, cataloged, and members of the Great Race made notes. The party started to awaken as human cultists milled around the Great Race like fleas. Mechanisms were activated, and the human cultists told the party, 'You do not belong here' 'We are done with you.. ' all very monotone and creepy.

The party along with the Time Travele woke up back in New York City inside the residence of the master of time. His time machine back in his basement laboratory.

The party is believing absolutely none of this hog wash. They are firmly convinced that the whole thing was a set up by the Great Race & the Martians. So they began to break down the mental conditioning of the Great Race with lots of roll play & saving throws around them. Then there was the insane double blind mind reading of the Time Traveler by the party's esper. Just to be doubly sure he was who he said he was.

Finally the party began a take apart & take down of the Time Traveler's time machine. Every screw, bolt, etc. was examined & taken apart. But why were the Great Race in league with the Martians. There was far more happening here then what the party has seen & they want answers! So now its a race to see who can possibly help them get back to the strange house and find out those answers!
