The War of the Worlds Godzilla 1898! - A Troll Lord Games Victorious rpg Campaign Session Report & Troll Lords Mail Call

Last night we finally got to sit down & play some The War of the Worlds Godzilla 1898! - A Troll Lord Games Victorious rpg Campaign!  So instead of constantly being behind the screen this was a chance to actually play! We were tracking our way through the dark underbelly of 1898 New York City! This obviously is an alternative history Earth with all of the bells & whistles that go with it. We've just gotten done with a quick round of dealing with some of the horrors of OZ & Wonderland via  Gary Gygax's EX1 Dungeon Land series!

We finished off the last of a group of 3rd level card  fighter guards & just about got our heads copped off via the Queen of Heart. Her enchanted +3 vorpal battle ax is nasty as is her disposition! She's about as evil as it gets & we dealt with her scouting mission to New York on the otherside of the magick mirror last night. The cards were scattered to the four winds by the team of adventurers & murder ho erm heroes. Two of our heroes fell to the ax of the queen before she & the king of hearts retreated. That left us down a wizard & an adventurer our paragon Sir Thadius the Light of Broadway assured us he had a plan for a replacement. I didn't like the sound of this.

Next it was dealing & bribing with the captillar for the gateway home, we could have gone the OZ route but that would have taken too long. We had no desire to deal with the 'deadly desert' nor the Wheeliers. So it was a bribe of a saucy story, a poem of New York, & the first memory of a childhood dream to the catipillar.

We made it back to New York City with time to spare but our paragon Sir Thadius knows about the second Martian invasion coming! So he uses the brimstone letter of introduction to Dr.Charles Clamonot the detestable head  occultist belonging to the cult of Asmodeus.

So we drop in on Dr.Charles Clamonot & using the brimstone letter he can't refuse to either see us or afford us our party's favor. Needless to say he looks exactly like Boris Karloff from 1934's The Black Cat.

Almost immediately my werewolf doesn't like him in the least. There's the smell of death around him & after a few rolls some of his coven/guests are undead of several varieties. I succeed on several of my rolls to stay in control but the rest of the party knows not to pull anything at his penthouse scene. I file away the information for later & know that there was mention of some ladies missing around the city. My wolf senses say that this guy has some presverved corpses in the basement. But we'll handle him later.
We explain that we need a replacement team member fast for our team. He knows someone who might help but it will be dangerous. We need to trust him, now I know what your thinking there's got to be plenty of heroes or D&D characters who can handle the load. We nod but don't trust him at all.

He gathers his coven around him & opens a planar portal to some desert on a strange world. We step through & no one askss him how we get back! The letter of the law of Hell with the brimstone letter is done & it disappears from Sir Thadius hand in a puff of smoke!
So we find ourselves face to face to face with an elaborate pyramid in the middle of an alien desert!?! The sky is red as Hell & there are seven stars in the sky. Make of that what you will if you know Bram Stroker. Not a good scene?! Then several mummies pop from the sands! And we engage in battle! They are destroyed & we check for signs of mummy rot immediately!
Nothing something is not right?!

Just as we're about to have more of the mummies burst from the sand a voice calls them off one by one in Greek. And that's when we're confronted by Liz our player's new PC's Fantomah, Daughter of the Pharaohs! After her wizard was killed off earlier the game by the Queen of Hearts I grabbed a copy of
The Three Lives of Fantomah: Daughter of the Pharaohs by NUELOW Games

With some quick work from the  Victorious rpg & The Amazing Adventures Book of Powers  we were able to adapt all of  Fantomah, Daughter of the Pharaohs as a team member very quickly. So with some very quick neogatitions in Greek we were able to jump back to New York. And that's where we were attacked by strange cultists as we made our way to our head quarters!

Swords, knives, & battle brought the police but we were able to collect a strange implant from the neck of one of the cultists after our new team mate decaptitated one of em. DM Steve is a crafty bastard & personally used one my monsters against me. In this case it was A Merrit's Metal Monster radio  implants!

My werewolf was wounded badly by a teleforce weapon that one of the bastards was wielding!
The Metal Monster tecnology came straight outta  the
TLG 77051 Victorious: Hunter & Hunter Catalog.

That bastard DM has a plan to work in Godzilla for next week's game! And today look what appeared on my doorstep today! But the Kickstarter rewards from
Castles & Crusades Codex Egyptium!

I also got two other Castles & Crusade books that go with this lovely hard cover book. For sometime now I've been looking forward to getting these. Now with them you can expect reviews to be forth coming.

The real star of the show has to be  Castles & Crusades Codex Egyptium!  which has been on my mind for sometime now. The Castle & Crusades facebook has been posting pictures months now & now that I've joined the club I'm looking forward to using these at the table top level.
