1d4 Random Minor Treasures From Clark Aston Smith's Poseidonis Table For Your Old School Campaigns

Some items & relics retain the memories of the places, ages, as well as the hands that used them. These items are a part of a lost or ancient history even when that history has sank far below the waves or is lost to the time & tides of myth or legend.

These are objects tinged with the weight of ages & ancient forgotten days there is a thirty percent chance that they will try to return to the pull of history perhaps taking their owner with them. Legend is a fickle thing at best, if the moon is gibbous or the pull of magick is perhaps a bit too strong there is a good chance that the gods may have use for 1d6 PC's or any nearby hirelings else where in the pages of other ages.Anyone within 20 a  foot radius of such PC's will be whisked elsewhere and when on a grand adventure in another age.

"Will you not join me in Atlantis, where we will go down through streets of blue and yellow marble to the wharves of orichalch, and choose us a galley with a golden Eros for figure-head, and sails of Tyrian sendal? With mariners that knew Odysseus, and beautiful amber-breasted slaves from the mountain-vales of Lemuria, we will lift anchor for the unknown fortunate isles of the outer sea; and, sailing in the wake of an opal sunset, will lose that ancient land in the glaucous twilight, and see from our couch of ivory and satin the rising of unknown stars and perished planets. Perhaps we will not return, but will follow the tropic summer from isle to halcyon isle, across the amaranthine seas of myth and fable; we will eat the lotus, and the fruit of lands whereof Odysseus never dreamt; and drink the pallid wines of faery, grown in a vale of perpetual moonlight. I will find for you a necklace of rosy-tinted pearls, and a necklace of yellow rubies, and crown you with precious corals that have the semblance, of sanguine-coloured blossoms. We will roam in the marts of forgotten cities of jasper, and carnelian-builded ports beyond Cathay; and I will buy you a gown of peacock azure damascened with copper and gold and vermilion; and a gown of black samite with runes of orange, woven by fantastic sorcery without the touch of hands, in a dim land of spells and philtres. 1d4 Random Minor Treasures From Clark Aston Smith's Poseidonis Table

  1. A bracelet of gold & some ancient unknown metal that belongs to 'the lady of the sea side' an elemental witch who is looking for adventurers to help her recover her family's wealth from an ancient curse. The bracelet is worth 500 gold pieces but the thing has 1d4 minor spells on it.
  2. The golden crown of weird magic this crown is made of iron & silver reflecting its owner's ties to the Hyperborean council as Atltantis sank the owner of this crown beat back the hordes & sacrificed their lives. The crown has the echoes of those who owned it before and allows the owner to cast clerical spells of first and second level but the owner must complete two tasks of ancient valor to keep the crown worth 600 gold pieces. The gods sometimes 30% of the time slip in a magic user spell to mix things up a bit.
  3. The Ring of Ancient Iron Magicks - This worked ring of six inches of iron increases the owner's wisdom by accessing the stream of the ancient Atlantis sages and was a powerful weapon against the vampire cults of the waning days. The owner is mostly immune to the will sapping abilities of the undead but the ring has a weird agenda of its own. There is a single burning sapphire worth 200 gold pieces covered in muck on the ring that will glow if the owner makes a save vs wands when the iron ring first appears
  4. The Mankin of Talo - This strange little 5 in statue is one of the Lords of Atlantis bound in jade and semi precious stone the item is worth a mere 700 gold pieces to a collector of such things but in the hands of a warrior? It becomes a fetish capable of instilling a berserk rage granting a +3 to all damage rolls. The price is that the owner becomes an instrument of the Fates of Talo. They will put him and his companions square at the cross roads of destiny time and again.

"Above its domes the gulfs accumulate.
Far up, the sea-gales blare their bitter screed:
But here the buried waters take no heed—
Deaf, and with welded lips pressed down by weight
Of the upper ocean. Dim, interminate,
In cities over-webbed with somber weed,
Where galleons crumble and the krakens breed,
The slow tide coils through sunken court and gate.

From out the ocean's phosphor-starry dome,
A ghostly light is dubitably shed
On altars of a goddess garlanded
With blossoms of some weird and hueless vine;
And, wingéd, fleet, through skies beneath the foam,
Like silent birds the sea-things dart and shine."
