Space 1999 Fan Film - Flight Of The Eagle Part I

Feeling a bit of the classic Space 1999 vibe tonight I ran across something pretty damn special for a fan.
According to wiki the basic plot went like this:
Space: 1999 is a British science-fiction television series that ran for two seasons and originally aired from 1975 to 1977.[1] In the opening episode, set in September 1999, nuclear waste stored on the Moon's far side explodes, knocking the Moon out of orbit and sending it, as well as the 311 inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, hurtling uncontrollably into space. You can read more right over HERE

Space 1999 remains for me an all time favorite of mine, this creation of Gerry Anderson has been an inspiration of mine for a long time. And its a bit rare to run across a fan film but here's one that also draws one from 2001 A Space Odyssey as well.

This is only part one and for me its a pretty interesting mash up,you've got elements of Space 1999, a bit of UFO, and certainly a whole lot of 2001 A Space Odyssey going on here. This is a total labor of love and its a nice homage to the show and its roots.

I know it might not look like much but this show is one that I've used as fodder for old school sci fi games over and over again, everything from Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Metamorphosis Alpha 1st Edition, and many more. So it was really nice to run into this little gem this evening.

  1. Space:1999 is my SF TV alpha and omega.

Every moon base that I've ever teleported a party to has been Alpha.

(Can't wait for the second season to come out on blu ray.)
