After Earth is a big budget science fiction film from M. Night Shyamalan which has Will Smith and son Jaden Smith playing a father and son team who crash on a long-abandoned and quarantined Earth of the far future.
Alright so what do have here? Another post invasion movie with lots of wildlife and the human race leaving Earth for other worlds. Very post apocalyptic feel to this with over tones of science fictional reality. This seems to be the latest post Hollyweird trend of late. This is another one where I'm going to play wait and see with the movie. Meantime this could be used as a blue print for any number of science fictional movie rpg games. Lots of potential.

Hrm, interesting. A somewhat similar premise to Oblivion. I'm a sucker for sci-fi movies so I'll probably go see it regardless of how good or bad it is. :)

Thanks for the comment Ed and I've got a "wait and see attitude". The lets see where this goes and then I'll make a judgement. This is a film that I'm a sucker for as well. So its really going to get interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good, I like the father/son dynamic. Worried that the M. Night "twist" is going to be that they really are on prehistoric Earth. I'd hate to think it's that easy.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching closely/cautiously!
The father/son dynamic is very close in this one but I can't wait to see where we go from here.
ReplyDeletePart of what has me going, "Hmm" is the twist or lack there of. The ideas that M.Night has brought to the table have been interesting but at time well disappointing. God I hope its not that easy at all. But we'll see.
Thanks for the comments on this one! More to come.
