Captain Aleister squeezed through the bio genetic corridor of the Sisterhood ship struggling with every corner or sensor reading that his explorer's leathers sensor web gave him. He never saw the shadow detach itself from the "ceiling" but his hearing saved him as the great beast went to slice his head off with a clawed appendage! He emptied the entire neutron gun's clip at the thing & still it shrugged off anything he threw its way.
"Your wasting time Captain, if only you had given my sisters the tribute they deserved we might avoid this unpleasantness. Otto my faithful servant can survive weeks in the vacuums of space because his original gene stock you see. But then your not interested in his species only that he is going to tear you limb from limb in a moment"
"Bitch"
Bolts of Zeta rays ran out within the confines of the hallway & still no effect!
"No actually his species doesn't have a sex at all."
There was a a wet crunch followed by "Otto" tearing apart the space armor of the good Captain. Otto wouldn't need to feed for weeks

The Huaguallh or the Hflavadigrades are a species genetically modified to live within the cold depths of violent space itself. These creatures have been modified to live within the harshest conditions known. They have a horned & armored hides capable of taking both hard radiation & can shrug off most energy weapons with little to no effects at all.
Thousands of years ago the minds of these creatures were modified to accept the telepathic commands of their owners & serve them without question. When the creatures are born from their egg clutches the Sisterhood brings their prospective members to the queen's chamber. The newly hatched monsters either bond with or eat their owners/partners. The monsters take a small portion of the other's intelligence & intellect as their own. The beasts mature rapidly within the hive & within 4 weeks develop the horned plates & hides for which they are known.
The psionic abilities of the species is formidable & they are able to blink across interstellar distances without error due to the cloned human navigator instinct implanted within their genetic templates eons ago. They may teleport 1d30 light years per day to the sides of their mistresses. These monsters have a long history of being used as exploration vehicles for the intelligence of their mistresses under the harshest conditions. Gravity, light, heat, etc. are all regenerated from by these creatures. The owner can telepathically look through the eyes of the Hflavadigrades twice per day & is within constant contact with said owner.
The beasts can slash with its hideously clawed feet twice per round & climb on any surface. The beast may blend into its surroundings after 2 rounds as a chameleon. They often use this tactic within zero gravity enabling the monster be both eyes & ears for its masters at very long interstellar ranges. The beasts regenerate as trolls & there is a natural hatred between the two races going back generations. The beast may generate a hyperspace pulse once per week enabling it to jump between systems over 50 light years or more with the help of its owner.
These monsters are often used in the mining of gas giants, asteroids, & other stellar bodies. These beasts seize the opportunity to prove the wealth of experiences & insights that it gains as no other creature can match. The bond with its own makes the two a dangerous & unpredictable pair.
Should the beast be killed the owner will suffer 1d4 points of damage. They will reel into a deep & abiding depression that will last for 1d3 months. Many commit the "Te'reea" rituals rather then go on.
There have been reports of rogue Huaguallh but these are rare but they do have double the hit dice of their brethren. The wilds of space teem with deadly & dangerous life. The Huaguallh live for over 77 years & sometimes more

Ewww. And neat. And ewww.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them Justin. This is only the tip of the iceberg. I'm in the middle of coming up with some thing slightly different using some "old school retro clones" More to come man!
