Crossing what's left of the Great California desert one will come across vast mutant hordes of Lizard People. Savage, relentless, and entirely predatory these horrors will track anyone that gets in their territories.
There are over seven distinct tribes of these mutant humanoids that typically will rip anyone to shreds and eat the remains.
They prey upon each other as well as other mutants who range within their turf. Because of the rich pickings of the former state of California , these mad apex predators are used to dealing with adventurers and salvagers.
The howl and hiss of these creatures can sometimes be the last sound that a party hears! The closing in of a pack of these lizard horrors is sometimes the last thing that an adventurer might see.

Yet with a bounty of 10 trade goods or 50 gold pieces for each lizard person there are those who brave the wind and desert searching for the nests of these horrors. Many times war cyborgs, bounty hunters, and armored adventurers seek their corpses. These fools are known as Gator Hunters and the rewards are but the fatalities are even higher. The Lizard people have begun to learn and hunt these hunters as well.

A new organization of super scientists called the Appex have begun to create K-Regen, a miracle created from the organs and glands of Lizard people.
These scientists have found ways to make the super science serum K- Regen. This serum acts as a combination cure light wounds spell and an enables a PC to regenerate as a troll as per the Labyrinth Lord Rule book. Limbs are healed, organs replaced, 1d20 years are added to the life of the user and youth is restored but this must be done under a super scientist's purview in a special lab or the effects of the lizard race mutation will quickly take a hold.
Typically the treatment using K-Regen costs the equivalent of 770 pounds of trade good or 10,000 gold pieces. There are several small side effects from using K- Regen these include a small round mark of skin like scales at the base of the spine, murderous impulses, an increase in suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, and occasionally organ failure. But for rich warlords, corporates, mutant overlords, etc. the price is a small one for this new lease on life.
I like this, the APEX are totally getting stolen for my ASE game.
ReplyDeleteI've got a ton of mutant madness coming up and the APEX will be featured even more in next couple of days. Thanks for the comment and have fun, they are really nasty group.
