Review, Yet More Wild Speculation, Agents of Shield Episode Five 'The Girl In The Flower Dress' For Your Old School Super Hero Campaign

Photo: This week, a mysterious new foe takes center stage. Who is the girl in the flower dress?
Don't go anywhere with this woman!
Agents are to approach her with extreme caution.

In “Girl In The Flower Dress,” an elusive girl in a flower dress may hold the key to the mystery that brings Coulson and team to Asia to rescue a young man with an unusual and dangerous power. Meanwhile, Skye has a secret that jeopardizes her relationship with the team right when they need her most.

Sky really wasn't the lady to watch in tonight's episode. Instead, we get a glimpse into the world of a possible Hydra, A.I.M. or Centipede outfit who are trying to produce super soldiers. The Earth/Alien hybrid technology used by this outfit is given center stage and Skye is revealed to have secrets all of her own.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons.
Guest starring are Louis Ozawa Changchien as Chan Ho Yin; Ruth Negga as Raina; Austin Nichols as Miles Lydon, Shannon Lucio as Debbie, Tzi Ma as Agent Kwan, Cullen Douglas as Po.
“Girl In The Flower Dress” was written by Brent Fletcher and directed by Jesse Bochco. The “Girl In The Flower Dress” episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 8:00-9:00 PM ET on ABC.
Agents of SHIEDL Girl In The Flower Dress
Chan Ho Yin was the real star of the show subtly floating through the episode kidnapping, studying, and offing anyone who got in her way. Very nice performance for an over the top sexy lady in a flower dress. I'd swear that this lady had some sort of telepathic or empathic abilities because no one in their right mind would have shown this girl anything but the door.
This is the same organization that came up with the centipede technology in episode one and now they've found a way of stabilizing it.
Remember the centipede technology from the very first episode  of Agents of Shield?
J-august-shield-600x331
The Centipede is an item that gives the user theExtremis powers. The Centipede may give a person superhuman abilities, but it also causes them to slowly lose their minds and eventually burst in anger due to a volatile substance known as Extremis. Other components include the injection methods of the Super Soldier Serum, technology from the Chitauri for injection, and Gamma Radiation. Described by Jemma Simmons as "all of the ways of getting superpowers put in a blender".
Well it looks like A.I.M. is behind it all!

When You Wish Upon An Extremis Star

A lot's happened, Tony, but I'm close. Extremis is practically stable."
"I'm telling you it isn't! I'm on the street, people are going 'bang', they're painting the walls. Maya, you're kidding yourself."
"Then help me fix it."
Maya Hansen and Tony Stark

Way back in 1999 as shown in Iron Man three the foundation for Extremis was laid down
According To The Marvel Movie Wiki:
Extremis was created by Maya Hansen in 1999. Maya and Aldrich Killian upgraded it thanks to Advanced Idea Mechanics providing funding for it to begin experimental testing. A.I.M. recruited amputees and other disabled people as test subjects, most notably the victims of military ops. Extremis cured their disabilities after which they were convinced to work for A.I.M. as assassins and soldiers.

I think that what we're looking at is the rise of a new branch of A.I.M. coupled with possible Hydra connections.

What we're possibly looking at is the return or off shoot of this man.
Iron-Man-3-ec0d3036
Major spoilers if you haven't seen Iron Man Three!
Which bounces the ball squarely in the court of both the Iron man three movie and all of the Marvel Movies back yards once again.

In the non-canonical Iron Man 3 video game it is revealed that Killian's consciousness had been 'downloaded' by A.I.M. prior to his physical death and uploaded into a new, enhanced form: M.O.D.O.K
MODOK
I have evolved far beyond what I once was. Suffice it to say, you took everything from me. I shall do the same to you."

Using The 'Girl In The Flower Dress' For Your Old School Super Heroes Campaign

Tonight's episode was solid in a way. It showed the ins and outs of the dirty little way in which shadow organizations are willing to use anyone who even shows the slightest hint of super powers.
The fact is tonight's episode was never about 'Scorch' and more about the creation of a dangerous new bio weapon/drug. A drug capable of creating hordes of super soldiers who can not only take orders but whose judgement is impaired to the point of becoming those wonderful second stringer super villains which Marvel And DC loves to sick on the heroes.
There's one book that has all of the secrets and allows a DM to create a campaign with a black background of deceit and depravity.
 This one!

Every dirty little secret is right in this book along with write ups for A.I.M., The Mandarin, and Hydra.

A 70's Sci fi Inspired Beta Max Black Stars Without Number Campaign - Around A Dead Star Without A Prayer Adventure And Actual Play

Quick Overview Of The Last Stars Without Numbers Game can be found
Last adventure the PC's watched in horror as all of the Martian Alliance troops aboard the Capital Battle Cruiser were jettisoned into space!
They're computer systems aboard their ship were invaded by a very nasty computer virus and the real villain was revealed to be a rogue Apex Relic A.I.!
The downloaded mind of an old corporate foe of the PC's awaited them!
The Thark Nation ship was destroyed as the same virus reeked havoc upon their systems and the ship imploded.

Using a series of lucky rolls three of the PC's were able to cut off many of the major ship systems and were able to sneak aboard the Capital class ship. They saw that the whole ship was filled with supplies, booty, and much more from the various raids that the A.I. had been making through out the various colony worlds.

After playing tag with a whole bunch of soldier robots and what have you they've made it to engineering only to find that the ship's impulse power engines have activated driving them toward a nearby dead star!
Did mention the "nuetronuim" bombs attached to the various cargoes as well. And that's where we left our heroes aboard a dead ship with an insane rogue A.I. and ticking time bombs!
How will our heroes escape as the clock is ticking literally!

More coming up on this Thursday!

Review, More Wild Speculation, Catch Up With "The New Agents Of Shield Trailer" For Your Old School Super Hero Campaigns

So far we've seen this show as Skye's journey and personally she might not be at all what she seems. The fact is that this has been a pretty solid ride so far but we've been dancing round the whole super hero vs. high technology game changing game.
So one or something is trying to make super heroes or super soldiers.

This photo has been floating around for two days. Again and again we're given hints then shadows. In the Pilot, in which they built the Extremis for Project Centipede and gave it to Mike Peterson, and Eye-Spy, in which they implanted X-ray vision to Akela Amador, while controlling the girl). And it seems like we'll at least see the face of that organization tomorrow.
This lady didn't offer more answers instead she created more questions.

Go to WATCH ABC to see the full episode now: http://bit.ly/19N8RWM

I really want to see the show pull out the stops.
The show needs to go even bigger. This  a world with superheroes and supervillains made clear with the very first episode..yet your giving us xfiles or hero-ish stuff. They need to take advantage more marvel characters, masks, costumes, cameos, and much more. Photo: This week, a mysterious new foe takes center stage. Who is the girl in the flower dress?
I want to see the appearance of AIM! I happen to think that the Rising Tide could possibly be a front for Advanced Idea Mechanics.

Could it be that Skye is actually an evil hiding in plain sight? Because just once I would love to see Modak making an appearance!

Just once I'd like to see this show end with half the bravado of the panel from a classic Marvel comic of  years gone by!
Serious give us the yellow freak agents of A.I.M so I can die a happy nerd!

Will Skye betray the Agents of Shield? I'd like to propose a counter theory to some of the ones that we've seen floating out there on the internet. I believe that possibly another angle is that Skye might be an alien LMD. That's right Skye just might be the alien decoy in disguise. Take away the lip balm, pumps, and five hundred dollar hairdo and you've got a counter agent with robotic attitude.
Besides who sleeps with their boyfriend right after eluding Coulson and company?

Using this stuff for your Old School Super Hero
Campaigns

Screw the 'Rising Tide', I've always been an A.I.M. fan myself and why not?
According to Marvel Super Heroes Forever website:
"AIM is an organization of brilliant scientists and their hirelings dedicated to the acquisition of power and the overthrow of all governments by technological means. AIM was organized late in World War II by Baron Wolfgang von Struker to develop advanced weaponry for his subversive organization HYDRA. They were close to developing and attaining nuclear weapons when HYDRA island was invaded by American and Japanese troops. Although HYDRA suffered a major setback, it survived and grew in secret over the following decades."
You can read the entire overview right over
In the Marvel Movie universe they got their start with these two

Between the Tesseract technology  from Asgard and the Red Skull's legion I was kinda hoping for a street level television show.
A cross between the X files, some of elements from the movies, and perhaps the Man From Uncle.
Last's week episode was the closest that we've gotten to it.

The set of adventures that I've used a number of times for Marvel Superheroes was the After Midnight Series. I've used this series of adventures with everything from Marvel Super Heroes to Dark Champions, Aberrant, and other OSR super hero games. This is basically the grand tour of the Marvel Super Heroes underworld.  In the series was After Midnight, Night Moves, and Nightlife.

Couple this with the Agents of Shield articles from Dragon Magazine and you've got a great start for a Super Agents campaign. Here's the thing about Super Agent campaigns. They need very little updating. Use the material as history for those who came before the party and wham instant history!
