Review & Commentary The Beserker PC Class By James Mishler & Jodi Moran-Mishler From Mishler Games For Your OSR Campaigns

 Mishler Games keeps on cranking out the good OSR supplements and here's another one! James Mishler Games has some great titles and this includes the new Berserker Class for Labyrinth Lord

"The new Berserker Class for Labyrinth Lord includes the following:

Class Details;

The following Berserker abilities and skills:
Berserker State;
   Grants bonuses to hit or additional attacks per round;
   Grants bonuses to unarmored armor class;
   Enables the berserker to fight beyond normal physical capacity or even death!
Fearlessness;
Magical Transformation;
   Human berserkers can transform into animals, including at higher levels man-beasts and giant-sized beasts"

 The Beserker Class  By James Mishler & Jodi Moran-Mishler is twelve pages of Beserker PC goodness with all of the OSR systems in mind. The Beserker class has all of the bonuses & additional hits. This is a part of the classic PC class and the  Beserker class is solid for a number of OSR rpg systems. And the Beserker is perfect for the Adventurer, Conqueror, King rpg for countering the problems of the humanoid Chaos wave. Is there an ACK's Beserker class?! Yes but the bonuses are not quite the same.  The Beserker Class  is also perfect for the Castles & Crusades's Haunted Highland. Because of the fact that the Beserker is great humanoid fighter & with the derth of giant kind in the setting its a natural.

The Beserker class could also be used in an OSRIC game easily & especially a Sword & Sorcery campaign. The PC class is solid at higher levels to help even out a combat niche within a party. This is also true of a Labyrinth Lord & an Advanced Companion  game campaign as well. In short the Beserker PC class fits a number of roles very well and at higher levels this engine of destruction can be aimed for a number of enemies easily. And that's the strength of this engine of violence & fighting prowess!

More Notes on Adding A Clark Ashton Smith Campaign Veneer To B3 Palace of the Silver Princess (Basic) By Tom Moldvay, & Jean Wells

Tonight its been a busy day thinking over the crater that DM Steve has left in my collective brain about his own experiences with B3 Palace of the Silver Princess by Tom Moldvay & Jean Wells. We've been talking about using the adventure as a sort of showcase for an almost Ravenloft style Fey romp into the The Shadowfell.

We've been going over some of the particulars tonight & how there could be rival groups of adventurers from different worlds entering into B3. If you've been following some of the ideas that put forward a few days ago in this blog entry.  I wondering if I should go the route of Tim Brannan's take on Rpg Pundit's Cults of Chaos? Expanding the empire of elves & Fey to help reflect the mythological nature of B3 Palace of the Silver Princess by Tom Moldvay & Jean Wells. I'm only now just starting to get the barest bones of a mini campaign together.

The real trick is gonna be connecting all of this with the plane of Nighmares which one of the players has an incredible fondness for. I'm thinking that the kingdom of Haven might be trapped between these two realms. In fact if it was up to me I'd connect both B3 Palace of the Silver Princess & X2 Castle Amber (Château d' Amberville) By Tom Moldvay.

I know that this module is heavily inspired by the works of Clark Ashton Smith, & once again I'm reminded exactly how powerful Stephen Amber (La Tombe Étienne D'Amberville)  really is. The whole adventure module reeks of the stuff of nightmares.
"Trapped in the mysterious Castle Amber. you find yourselves cut off from the world you know. The castle is fraught with peril. Members of the strange Amber family, some insane, some merely deadly, lurk around every corner. Somewhere in the castle is the key to your escape, but can you survive long enough to find it?"
I'm reminded once again of Clark Ashton Smith's
Averoigne stories:

What Clark Ashton Smith's Averoigne stories do is set the tone for canonically for the modules & it provides the perfect excuse to get B3 into shape. All of this ties directly into the very nature of B3 The Silver Princess into line for a campaign still taking into account the weirdness of such a campaign. Events that surround such an undertaking will have both the nightmare but hard core fans. The sum of the parts of such a campaign is greater then the parts that are presented in the modules themselves.

Morlock Bug Hunt - Session One Tegel Manor 1977 By Judge's Guild Campaign Notes

The PC's going on a door to door on a bug hunt in tonight's game. In tonight's game it was a mix of DYI Dungeons & Dragons as well as an OSR pull from. I dusted off my copy of

the Advanced Edition Companion (Labyrinth Lord) for tonight's game.

 The PC's ran into a raiding party of Morlocks which were drawn from the Mutant Future Encyclopedia.  These Morlocks were a death squad to murder their ancient enemies brain parasites who had taken over the hospital after a mutant brought it back from the far future. The PC's have decided to join them in going on their raid as the hospital has been isolated from the rest of the campaign city by a force field.

   The adventurers are crossing over into a dungeon which has been planely joined to the hospital but what the players don't know is that they've crossed over into Tegel Manor's valley & lands. The manor is drawing the party into the manor's weird supernatural destiny.

The manor is quietly drawing them to it. What the PC's don't know is that their's a vampire assassin on their collective asses. Countess Rita Rump has been created by using the guidelines from
Vampires of the Olden Lands  From James Mishler Games.

 Because Vampires of the Olden Lands is duel statted for both Castles & Crusades and Labyrinth Lord it means that I can drag many adventure elements from my rpg archives & campaign notes.

 Yeah I wonder if the PC's will survive their encounter with my assassin coming up? The question becomes will the PC's be dragged down into the depths of the haunted halls of the manor's Hell or overcome the cursed nature of the manor.
