Yule Glimmer Mimic
The Yule Glimmer Mimic is a creature that has adapted its form to resemble a beautifully decorated, fragrant Christmas tree. It waits patiently in festive, well-trafficked areas, luring unsuspecting targets with its comforting appearance and the faint, sweet scent of pine sap and spiced sugar.
Description & Lore
Appearance: Appears as a tall, freshly-cut pine or fir tree, typically 8-12 feet high, adorned with colorful ornaments, tinsel, electric lights, and often topped with a large, glowing star. Its limbs may gently sway as if reacting to an unseen draft. The presents beneath it are often part of the creature's body or highly adhesive, immobile decoys.
Behavior: Completely immobile until prey is within reach or it feels threatened. It aims to catch small groups or individuals who approach to admire its decoration or, crucially, try to touch the gifts.

Special Abilities
Enticing Disguise: While standing still and fully "decorated," the Mimic gains +2 DF against ranged attacks (the branches and ornaments absorb some of the impact) and requires a successful Stress (SR) check DC 6 to disbelieve the disguise. Failure means the target treats it as an inanimate object and may approach carelessly.
Blinding Illumination: The string of electric lights wrapped around the Mimic can pulse brightly. As an action, the Mimic can attempt to Blind one target within Melee range. The target must succeed on a Mind (MND) check DC 5 or be Blinded until the end of their next turn.
Tinsel Grab: Once a target is adjacent, the Mimic can lash out with a sticky, thorny branch covered in tinsel. This attack deals normal damage, and if successful, the target is considered Grappled (as per the Grapple rule). The Mimic can Grapple up to two targets at once.
Ornaments of Sap: Its ornaments are actually hardened, sticky nodules of sap. When hit by a melee attack, the attacker must succeed on an Agility (AGL) check DC 4 or have their weapon become Stuck and unusable until they spend an action to make a successful Strength (STR) check DC 5 to free it. This is considered a temporary, minor debility.
Suggestions for Use
The Town Square: The Mimic could be the centerpiece of the town's holiday decorations, attacking when a local dignitary or a player character attempts to place the final ornament or light the tree.
The Manor Foyer: It's placed in the entryway of a wealthy house the party is infiltrating or guarding. The gifts beneath it might actually be important clues or items, forcing the party to approach.
Unique Treasure : Star of Tinsel's Embrace
This item is salvaged from the Mimic's most vital part—the glowing star atop its head, now reduced to a strange, sticky cluster of wire, glass, and residual magic.
Star of Tinsel's Embrace
| Trait | Description |
| Type | Enchanted Trinket (Worn on the breast or cloak) |
| Rarity | Unique |
| Attunement | None |
Effect: The Festive Ward
While worn, the Star of Tinsel's Embrace provides a minor defensive benefit and a unique utility:
Dazzling Defense: The wearer gains +1 Defense (DF) against attacks made by Rank 1 (Trivial) and Rank 2 (Minor) enemies, as the flickering, colorful light confuses simple foes.
Entangling Retaliation (Once per Encounter): When the wearer successfully Dodges an attack in melee, they may immediately trigger this effect. The star flashes brightly, projecting residual sticky tinsel and wire at the attacker. The attacker must make a successful Agility (AGL) check DC 4 or be considered Slowed until the start of their next turn.
Slowed: A Slowed target has their Speed (SPD) reduced by 1 (minimum 1) and may only take a single standard action (not a standard and a minor/movement action) on their turn.
Salvage/Crafting Note
A skilled artisan (requires a successful Mind (MND) check DC 6 using relevant tools) might be able to harvest the Mimic's core Sap and the intact glass Ornaments to create a limited supply of potent, sticky Ammunition or a temporary Adhesive Trap.
