OSR Commentary On Running The Outer Presence rpg Mixed With Wretched Flesh Post Cards From Aviladad & Rpg Pundit's Invisible College From The Red Room

 Earlier today a video popped up on my Youtube subscriptions and it was DM Bluddworth reviewing Venger Satanis's The Outer Presence rpg. And yes the Outer Presence is a great little rpg no doubt about it. Back a couple of years when we were messing with it for Lovecraftian gaming. But it's not simply a great little Lovecraftian game but 'The Outer Presence' is also a fantastic little adventure. And it's one that can be run with Wretched Flesh Post Cards From Aviladad & Rpg Pundit's Invisible College. No not Wretchploitation or Wretched Darkness even though either of those could be used quite nicely. 

So what's going on is simple and quick there was a radical  movement & split from the Cult of Typhon during the later years of the 2020's. This radical cell of the cult of Typhon had a 'holy vision' and were called down to the shores of the jungle of New Guinea. And that was the last anyone heard of them until the expediation by  Doctor Karl Steiner, anthropologist, ego-maniac, and frequent contributor to the quarterly anthropology journal Culturally Speaking. With the help of Dr. Steiner and his team, the Meepie cult not  tribe has regressed to cannibalism and human sacrifice in order to appease something that lives in the nearby temple. 
And here's where both the Invisible College and Zone Tec or it's mercenaries get involved. Why? Simply put the entire Meepie cult is well on it's way to seizing control of the country of New Guinea. Why would the PC's get involved?! Simply put the country can't fall under control of the Meepie cult. New Guinea is a trading partner of Aviladad and it's not a good move for the country too fall into the hands of a bunch of fanatics. 

The Invisible College has some idea of the unearthly presence and what the Meepie cult is using to power it's occult influence. An utra telllurian craft had fallen to Earth during the 2020 and has been the source of thier power. 

And now events in New Guinea are getting worse. They threaten to spread into other parts of the world. And this is because the influence of the otherworldly object the gateway into  the qlippoth.Whose behind the temple and it's agenda?! 
And what exactly does the influence of Doctor Steiner hold over the temple? 
What does the entities within the temple want besides the PC's? And what does this have to do with the Chorozon club? The Chorozon club is still operating within the bounds of Avilidad even after all of these years. They are corporate raiders and occultists who operate from the shadows. And they are the money behind the expediation into New Guinea. The CC may try to influence or inflitrate the expediation. Because the  CC is run like a corporation and  the Meepie cult is an off shoot of the Cult of Typhon there is both jealousy and a sense of occult curiosity. The cult of Typhon has little to do with or even acknowledges the Meepies. They look at them akin to modern primatives in occult circles. Should the gate beclosed there are key renagade cult of Typhon members in Aviladad who will pay for others to opening it. Even Venger leads this door open; "An unknown benefactor may be willing to pay for knowledge of Nafu Aata. Is it because he's discovered something similar? Another temple, perhaps, or an object linked to the original crash millennia ago. Maybe this mysterious figure has been tracking a High Priest who once called Nafu Aata home."
