Review & Application On Cepheus Journal – Issue #015 - Free Cepheus Engine rpg Resource

"So, let’s dig into this issue. Once again Jo Jaquinta has given us quite a few articles, which we are always thankful for. First up is an article looking at Generative AI and how to use it in your game, but not in a way you might think.

There is a article on a species called Aquarians and ways you could use them in your game, an article on radio archaeoastronomy and how you can use it to spice up your game, and finally instalment nine of The Raider’s Lament."

"Les Hendrix’s article covers adding cultural flavour to make your planetary visits much more interesting, and our own P-O Bergstedt gives us a look at a character called Mandy that is an NPC in the Adventures of the Starship Notorious. This article is a prologue of that series."

"Finally, from our own Brett, is a couple of articles, a bit of fiction created from a game I ran a few years back, and an article on exotic weather and how to give your players some extra challenges on the worlds they visit."

Cepheus Journal – Issue #015  flew right by my radar over the last couple of weeks. And this is a pretty damn big issue with over forty pages to boot. We dive right into the editor's desk and get a heads up on the state of Cepheus Engine issues with editor Brett Kruger. And all looks good with the contents of this issue.
Jo Jaquinta has a great article about using  'Generative AI In Your Game' which is actually an article about societies using this technology for many aspects of a society. And I can envision using this article for Clement, or Earth sector games. This technology could also have dire consquences for other societies especially those of the corporate controlled Hostile rpg.
'Into The Night' By Brett Kruger is centered around Cepheus Engine rpg fiction and has a distinctly interstellar voice about it. And it contrasts with Jo Jaquinta's Raider's Lament which is within it's 12th chapter and goes down very smoothly.
Les Hendrix (amishstarship@gmail.com) has a solid article on 'Adding In Cultural Flavor' and the whole cloth article centers around the cultures of a Cepheus Engine game. This is a solid world building article with really goood advice. The article includes adding in cultural modifiers and more to your game campaigns.
Jo Jaquinta then brings us the Aqurians an entirely new interstellar species according to the article; "The Aquarians described here are found in a system of your choice, inhabiting the subsurface ocean of an icy satellite of the system’s gas giant. They conform to the general body plan of “Europan Rays” found in many such environments, but it is the referee’s choice if this is from convergent evolution, or species dispersal. This particular species is not found elsewhere, but is prevalent over the subsurface of the world. Estimates are that there are 10,000 to 40,000 individuals." This is a solid article about a whole cloth interstellar race and thier culture, world, etc. all of it is waiting to be dropped into your Cepheus Engine games.
Brett Kruger dives into 'Exotic Weather' for interstellar bodies  and planets, this is a great article that hits the high notes for extreme weather. This is a great article to drop into a Hostile or Clement Sector game where the unknown planetary bodies are being explored on the high frontier.
'Radio Archaeo-Astronomy' by Jo Jaquinta goes into this field of study and career for Cepheus Engine with it's applications for campaigns including a very intriguing example that can be used as an example or dropped right into a campaign.
Finally we get 'Mandy' By PO Bergstedt an NPC with a complete background, history, etc. and a difference. This is a great NPC to use to drop into your own Cepheus Engine rpg game.

Cepheus Journal – Issue #015  is a great addition to your own Cepheus Engine campaign. And I hope the guys at the Cepheus Journal keep up the fantastic work.

Free Cepheus Engine Rpg Resource - Cepheus Journal – Issue #012 For Cepheus Engine rpg & Old School 2d6 Science Fiction Games

"Welcome to our twelfth issue. The theme for this issue is medical. We hope that you will enjoy it.

Sickness, illness, disease, injury and medication are often a part of our every day lives, and your characters should have the likelihood of going through some of the things your players have had."

"If you have any sort of combat in your games then your characters will have injuries, both minor and major, needing meds or even surgery. This issue is going to explore this theme and open up ideas you can try in your games."

If there's a constant within 2d6 Science Fiction games medicine is a central concern & its a very underrated concern in Cepheus Engine. Well, no more folks as Cepheus Engine Rpg has it's own within the Cepheus Engine Journal issue #012. Why?! Because as it says in the introduction by editor Brett Krugger; "Sickness, illness, disease, injury and medication are often a part of our every day lives, and your characters should have the likelihood of going through some of the things your players have had. If you have any sort of combat in your games then your characters will have injuries, both minor and major, needing meds or even surgery. This issue is going to explore this theme and open up ideas you can try in your games" Socially Unacceptable by Jo Jaquinta, and exploration of a leprosy like disease thart is more plague then anything else. And it's a nasty variant at that perfect to drop into a colony world. Medivac by Timothy Collinson is a short adventure that has been transformed into a Cepheus Deluxe adventure perfect for escaping a world. It's very well done.

The Physician Career for Cepheus Deluxe rpg is a very well developed career that can suppliment both mercenary campaigns or exploratory CD variants. Finally Jo Jaquinta twists  intrigue on the frozen world of Polhishe, in his adventure. And we get another installment of Raiders Lament & it's a good one.
All of these 2d6 resources are perfect for a Cepheus Engine rpg campaign or your 2d6 old school campaigns. Why because all of Cepheus Engine rpg resources are perfect for games such as the Hostile rpg or the Space Western themes of Clement or Earth sector rpgs. Why because on the 2d6 frontiers medicinations & medicine are some of the main resources that have to be trucked into the colonies.

Death, alien disease, injury, & more are some of the main dangers on said frontier where doctors, nurses, etc are worth their weight in gold. Cepheus Journal – Issue #012 is a great free resource.
Thanks again for all of the work that the guys & gals over at Cepheus Journal do for the Cepheus Engine rpg community. Grab this one folks!

Review & Commentary On The Free Cepheus Engine rpg resource - issue #009 of the Cepheus Journal

"Welcome to issue #009 of the Cepheus Journal.

From Ewan Spence we have an article about the 2nd Battalion Royal Australia Regiment for Modern War. Then from Jo Jaquinta we have the third part of his Raider’s Lament and an article aboutan out-of-the-ordinary monster.

Our editors have also contributed. Brett has interviewed Paul Elliot of Zozer Games and written a review of the Cepheus Deluxe rules. Paul has written an adventure and finally P-O has made a subsector map a written a short write-up of an alien race."

The Cepheus Journal continues to impress with a solid  issue #009 that's been put to bed & on the site for download. Ewan Spence does an excellent job covering the RAR for Zozer Games Modern War. The whole article dives into the ins & outs of this modern Australian military force for your 2d6 Modern War campaigns; "The 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR) is an amphibious light infantry battalion of the Australian Army and forms part of the 1st Division Amphibious Task Group based at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, Queensland."
This is a tightly written & very researched article . 'The Raiders Lament' part 3 by Jo Jaquinta goes the distance bringing more Cepheus Engine inspired action to the fore. Jo Jaquinta also delivers a great new monster with the Monster Capybara for your fantasy  2d6 game campaigns. And this is followed up with an interview with Paull Elliot of Zozer games & his passion for 2d6 games & history! Good stuff all around in this interview.
Brett Kruger does an excellent review of Cepheus Deluxe one of the latest incarnations of the 2d6 Cepheus Engine rpg. Paul Dyre follows this up with '
The Sins of Winter Last' for the Sword of Cepheus rpg and its a rather nasty little adventure with all of the trimmings. P-O Bergstedt brings home the 'Chamberburg Sector' campaign setting for the Cepheus Egine & he follows this up with a rather nasty version of the Kramptus!

So is
issue #009 of the Cepheus Journal worth the download?! Yes I believe it is given the fact that one its free & two it manages to cover a bit of everything with its 2d6 goodness & content.
