Free OSR Download Class -First Edition Scout By Leonaru For Your Old School Campaigns

First Edition Scout

Grab It Right
HERE
This is a really nice solid work up of the scout from first edition and its pretty much a straight forward as it gets. The author and designer creates a nice mirror of an old school  class that seldom gets any respect today. Scouts are essential in an outdoor style game and places where wilderness is the rule.
This is pretty much a download, print out and play sort of pdf and contains virtually everything that a players needs from the ground up to play a scout. There are myriad of classes from this author each well done and usible right off the download. The scout isn't an except to this rule and this is a well organized version of the class.
As the write up from lulu states:

This is the scout character class for the first edition of the world's most popular roleplaying game and all other old-school games compatible with it. The PDF includes the full class description and a custom scout character sheet.
From race to level progression all of the background is presented very concisely and yet with a sense of old school style.
So why is this class on my science fiction and fantasy side of the blog? Well simply put scouts are one of the most useful and easily overlooked classes for use with a post apocalyptic wasteland setting or a sword and planet setting. This is a very useful pdf addition to a DM's arsenal and one that adds a nice dimension to a native planetary guide or even an alien tracker.
Scouts can add an entire other angle to games and can be used in a plethora of time periods to add another dimension of interest and adventure opportunity to your old school games. They can appear in sword and sorcery campaigns, Old West period pieces, Roman based games, etc. The uses here are numerous.
Scouts have always been a handy addition to NPC and hireling ranks as well. They have several abilities that make them essential to bounty hunting parties and any wilderness based adventures. This pdf adds in everything that a first edition game will need right in one free downloadable package. This pdf clocks in at six pages of useful material in one solidly done package. And best of all its free. Over the last three weeks or so I've quietly learned to enjoy and incorporate several of the reworks and redoes that this author has done. Grab this one for a nice addition to your old school campaigns.
The author knows his old school games very well and this class is pretty obviously a labor of love on his part as are other classes that I've downloaded from his Lulu author page. This class can be adapted to a variety of retroclones and systems with a bit of work and this pdf contains everything a DM needs to get started with using scouts in their games right away.

The Unbaptized - An Optional Character Class For Your Favorite Old School Space Opera

File:Vingtmillelieue00vern orig 0131 1 detail modifié-1Zoom.jpg
The Unbaptized
There are times when even the most "evil" minds & hearts must turn away. Those who serve the darkness must return to the road of humanity. They have gazed into the abyssal stare of their dark gods & have been found wanting.
Those who turn their backs on their former masters are waging a futile war at best. They will never again be trusted by their own friends, family, community, even their former religions.  The Unbaptized have been found wanting at best & are hunted relentlessly at worst. These beings are few & far between. They advance as fighters & have none of the spell casting abilities that they did in the service to their former heathen masters.
Some of the guidelines for playing The Unbaptized : -1 on Charisma as no one will trust them & they will bear the marks of their former master's service, Hunted 3 times per week by the minions of their former masters, +1 Strength & Dexterity for fighting for their lives at every turn, May use any magic item without penalty because of the easy flow of magic, Identify any ritual, rites, & magic associated from their former masters, & 1/2 the normal life span of a person of their age. The candle that burns brightest burns fastest especially without the hand of their forbidden master.
Animals & All riding animals are at a -1 charisma roll unless a saving throw by the Unbaptized is made for each encounter
The Path of The Civilized  represents circumstances that lead back to being almost entirely human. There are some former scars & signs that give your nature away.
Path Of The Civilized Table 1d10
  1. Your skin retains an odd pattern in patches in certain places. They patches are odd & some times you stroke them unconsciously.
  2. The little pleasures small things bring you great joy - the ability to smoke, enjoy a fire, or a sunrise. Others will notice however
  3. Eyes of The Damned - You've seen too much & those who look into your eyes for 1d3 rounds will have an odd sense that something's a bit off with you
  4. You retain the piercings & ritual scars of your former service those seeing it are at a -1 on your charisma rolls. Those aren't normal at all. The material their made of gleams unnaturally.
  5. You laugh at inappropriate times & sometimes whisper to yourself unnerving others. You do have a good heart though.
  6. The smile of a child, sunshine, etc. all of the positive things bring you great joy & comfort. There may be hope for you yet
  7. Tragedy & Sorrow - Your life is filled with these & yet you can draw strength instead of  negativity
  8. The Night Is My World - Day time isn't your thing but still your back to being human. Your eyes are adjusted to the night. +1 when operating at night & in darkness. Your eyes are cat like & -1 on all day light missions. You must wear smoked lens much of the time.
  9. Fight back To The Human. - You are superficially a human being but internally your a mess. Each day you must make a saving throw & act as you once did. If you fail you may fall into crying jags, & depression. You may roll again in 2 turns. The road of healing has started
  10. Support of The Loved One - There is someone who believes in you & will support you no matter what you are going through. At the end of 3 adventures gain +1 on your wisdom score.
The Unbaptized have a magic item that they received in the service to their dark masters. This item will depend on who your former master was please consult the table below.

The Etul- The Space Priests - A Space Class for Any Old School Space Opera

File:Aa air tight suit.gif
The Etul- The Space Priests
When mankind reached for the stars the Etul were already waiting there. These explorer monks believe that it is mankind's destiny to transform himself to suit the stars & planets. They believe that only through adapting to a place can man achieve oneness with the universe & his gods.
They have been seen in some of the remotest ports across the universe & many times act as translators, guides, & even mercenaries. They have no temples at all but carry with them a few small amulets, & talismans of their faith.
Make no mistake they are a chaotically based religion who preaches that only through excepting change can one achieve perfection & salvation. They're gods are strange even by human standards. The excepting of one's fate is a sign of changes to come.
There are those who remain suspect of their motives. They point out about their supposed "Space Sail Ships" they cast themselves into the void with. That there's a hidden agenda at work & that these so called priests are serving hideous things from beyond & not the space gods as they claim. To all these things the Etul simply smile & make the universal blessing sign. They move on once again.
The Etul gains +1 on all stats because of the harsh training that must endure & be able to preach the good word to others. At the end of their training they gain their Etul space leathers. This counts as leather armor but is also atmosphere tight & has a 22 hour micro air supply. It also has visual enhancement properties +1 to stellar navigation rolls. The Etul also gains the psychic ability to understand & communicate with human & near human life forms
The Etul advances as a cleric from Swords & Wizardry
At 1st level the Etul gains the following spell like abilities - Sense the Space Gods Presence (The Etul may sense if a course of action has his patron's blessings 2 times per day), Suspension ( The priest may place himself in a trance state for 22 days needing neither food nor water), Sense Transformation( The etul may sense what is the best course of transformation for a fellow being 2times per day), Barrier of The Space Gods ( The priest may act as a window for the power of the space gods & create a barrier which no unholy things may cross for 1d3 rounds).
At 4th level the Etul may create a minor space craft that will act as an escape pod enabling him & a  brother to cast themselves to the space winds. This 4 hit point craft is made from space ship scraps & junk. It will survive only one journey & takes 1d6 months to construct. The Etuls may construct another but not for 1d3 weeks or their holy missions are done.
The Etul's have no restrictions on energy weapons at all. Any sex may join a temporary commune or workshop. They have gatherings called Affairs which will be from a central location. The Affairs are called every 2 years by a priest of 4th level or higher except in times of war or strife.
