THIS JUST IN FROM WIZARDS OF THE COAST & Gencon
So officially announced at GenCon a few minutes ago: the entire D&D back log, everything, will be made available in electronic format.EDIT: I was right the first time, "Entire back catalogue" was said
Yes, not saying "PDF" opens up all sorts of possibilities for crappy, memory-intensive reader applications limited to a single OS and burdened by outrageous DRM measures.
"Whether this will be PDF or some other "reader" format is unknown at this time." I'm thinking something this was supposed to be part of some larger announcement that simply didn't happen or hasn't happened yet. Wait & see where their going with this.. I wonder if Wizard's of the Coast will be doing a kickstarter?
Mike and Co. announced something similar but kept it very low key last year. It was to the effect that they were looking at ways to make the Eberron back catalogue available. There was a little bit of excitement in Enworld land and then ... nothing. I suspect the entire back catalogue is still some way away and the decision may yet be reversed.
Rob S This is really the problem I've got with this whole thing.. There are lots of stuff that come out of GenCon but where will it go? Again I've got a wait & see attitude. Meanwhile I'm content to play, write, & play my retroclones & old stuff.. ;-) More to come.
Kinda depends on what electronic format means...
