Mimetundrirth- The Perfect One sizing up her(its) next meal! |
“Listen closely... the eternal hush of silence goes on and on throughout all this, and has been going on, and will go on and on. This is because the world is nothing but a dream and is just thought of and the everlasting eternity pays no attention to it.”

Mankind launched himself into space & found his reflection waiting their to cheerfully eat him. The Mimetundrirth- The Perfect One are also called the formless ones for they are related to the Marashyálu (Here)
A tribe of planar wanderers skidding across the face of the multi planes. They have come down through history as perfectly formed phantoms taking our dreams & nightmares weaving them into shapes that they can use. A combination of ghost, golem, doppleganger & horror beyond!
Those that look upon them see a range of horror & perfection looking back & we hunger for them in emotion & lust. They feed on us as perfect creatures devouring us within their waxed embrace.

These creatures have several super science powers : Telepathy, Shape Shifting, & Illusion but all of these are at a level that humans can not attune to . They're victim gives them the very means to attack them! Claws, teeth, & other appendages are adapted as needed.
Once they have fed they become intelligent for a time as we recognize it. These monsters slip into lives that exist as the pages of a book. Able to flip from on existence to another easily as we might a page. Today a high paid interstellar fashion model tomorrow a space pilot! But always the monster waits for the right moment to strike.

A Mimetundrirth forming another shape within a display case at the Unmuseum . This specimen later escaped ! |
Those who have witnessed their true form report an 9 foot tall shapeless mass of waxy tissue that pulls dreams as one watches it! A saving throw must be made every round as a new image is pulled from the victims subconscious! Once they have eaten a victim literally absorbed him then a new shape will be pulled from the mind of the poor fool to wear for 1d6 months. These can be dropped instantly for another shape. They may only wear 1d4 shapes when encountered. There is no mind within these creatures to attack psionically per say. They are merely a collection of cells & biological material in search of a canvas.
Those scientists who study these monsters as their life's work report that for a time after feeding they remember who & what they are. They are reservoirs of deep & disturbing knowledge who may eat you or impart some heinousness forbidden truth of the universe only to have it wiped away after the next meal!
These monsters are immune to physical attacks and energy weapons but are effected by inter-planar weapons and psionic attacks.
If even one little bit of the cellular material escapes from melee, it will plane shift to another location where the creature's special form of regeneration kicks in. The monster will eat 1d20 pounds of genetic material & literally begin to rebuild itself with 1d3 days. The cycle shall begin again. It has been suggested that there is only one Mimetundrirth & all others are merely extensions of it!
Another great write-up...and you managed to weave in a Kerouac quote. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trey! These were part of a series of nightmares & I'm in the middle of reading Kerouac at the moment! There will be more!
