Critical Grumble Is Stealing Content & I'm Pissed!

So Critical Grumble has been stealing and re appropriating bloggers contents for months without providing back links or crediting the original authors at all!

So this guy apparently has been passing my reviews and blog posts off as his own without providing any back links to my blog! I'm not very happy about this at all! As you can well imagine I don't ask for much in return for reviews, etc. at all. I have a day job but I do spend quite a bit of time on this sort of content regardless of it OSR, book, movie, gaming, etc, etc. And all I ask in return is a mention and a back link back to my original content. Seems like this guy has been doing this for months. Here's a fine example of his practices.

And my Skirmisher Publishing LLC review of Kos

And my review of Lives of Kos again. This is however the original review
HERE

Harvester From The Stars With picture no less!

And my review
HERE

So this is the gentleman whose been using my content for months without providing back links and such passing my content off as his own!

Either provide back links or take it down pal. Now!
As Jeff R. said credit your original sources or your going to get spanked publicly!

So how many other OSR bloggers have had their stuff stolen by this jerk? Hmm check your content blog writers!

  1. He seems to have swiped this one from Brett Slocum's blog.

  2. It appears he stole from Blog of Holding as well.

  3. Great Brett is a friend as well. I love his blog and his wonderful rpg and OSR material. Well that's strike two as I'm concerned. email sent appraising him of the situation. And yes folks I'm making an example of #$%# in question.
Thanks for the heads up Jason and this story is only starting to gain traction. Let's see who else he's been stealing from.

  4. It appears he's using an RSS feed reader to pull in and re-post articles verbatim from several sites.

  5. I knew it was automated! Here's been doing it for a while!
Thanks Marty because this goes all the way back to 2013!

  7. Let me know what I can do, if anything.

  8. Oh this has got to go down because none of the bloggers are even getting at all. Cedric I've noticed that as well.
I'm giving this guy 24 hours to contact me and then its getting reported to Wood Press. Then its going to get ugly from there. I don't want it to but it will. Its 7:42 in the U.K. now and the clock is ticking at this point on this 'gentleman'.
    Thanks Matt.

  9. By the way, in blogger you can change your RSS feed settings:

"None", "Short", or "Jump Break" (if you use those) will lessen the ability for others to repost.

Short is a good compromise if you don't use jump breaks because it will still include the first couple sentences in your feed for anyone who likes using RSS readers to browse favorite blogs.

  12. I'm preparing a DMCA takedown notice if he does nothing.

  13. I'm giving this little #$^&# twenty four hours and then the gloves are off.

  14. What pisses me off is that other OSR bloggers are people I consider friends and stealing or borrowing content without back linking or citing is really ticking me off. Not to even begin to mention my stuff. That's a whole other kettle of fish here. I've been doing a slow burn over this since I discovered it.
    Brett go for it.

  15. Thanks for the heads up, fellas - ripping off bloggers is really crappy!

  16. Glad to be of service. Now if he'd stop this then I'd be fine with the little blogger.

  17. Ugh,

That sucks. Glad you caught it. What a schmuck.

  18. The plagarism starts in July '14 - before that it's links to other blogs with almost no text

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey Fractalbat yeah it does suck. I thought it was simply one or two entries but as I'm digging through the blog there's a ton.
    Joey
I keep wondering if this was done with some little piece of soft ware, the kid is twenty something and there's so many entries Joey.
Its really ticking me off to see this over and over again. What is the point with the plagiarism? Bloggers are a small and pretty close community. This is a violation on a personal level. What happens when the author/blogger wants to move his content to market place and there's another blogger copying the idea or entry. A complete conflict and violation of the blogger's reputation over and over again. I'm not the only one involved here though.

  20. Well his freakin' phone number is public on his FB page. So he's an idiot?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yup he's an idiot.. Almost makes me wonder if someone is setting him up for a fall. This Word Press blog is very arbitrary and very strange. The rhyme and reason is weird to it. There's a pattern to it but the blogger comes across as an idiot.

  22. Operators are standing by, Mr. Paris?
I'm making the effort here. At this point folks the best thing that can happen for Mr.Paris is for the Word Press of his to go away. Sigh.

  23. Hang on, it seems like that pic is someone else who just likes his blog. Or am I missing another connection somewhere?

  24. Well just to be on the safe side I got rid of the picture and facebook content.

  25. My sincerest apologies to Mr.Parriss and the take downs are being filed tonight. Thanks for the heads up. Case of mistaken identity and no problems.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well I sent Jeremy Parris an email apologizing for the mix up. And the take down's been done.
    Sorry for any inconvenience folks.

  27. thanks - found my content stripped too so happy to ad names to complaintants

  28. Oh your welcome my friend, glad to give my friends heads up on this sordid business. I sent off a set of complains to Wordpress this evening. Now trying to get past this and move on. Its out of my hands now. Cheers Konsumterra.

  29. I would like to address this. I want to apologize for all this. It was a huge error on my part. To EVERYONE affected by it I am truly sorry. I'm working to fix the situation to everyone's satisfaction, it will simply take some time. Again, I am sorry, I never meant to cause anyone any harm or loss of business.

  30. Ryan- We addressed it and at least to my satisfaction the matter is resolved. Since there wasn't any malicious intent I'd love to move on from this. The amount of time and energy this cost me was really the problem. I'd like to take a moment to apologize to all of the bloggers involved in this affair. Thank you for your attention in the matter and for the passion that you show with your efforts. I'd like to thank all of the efforts of friends who have helped me out with this and the pros who were involved as well those who took the time to write me about.
Thanks to everyone involved and now I'm moving on with my day. Cheers folks!
